India v Sri Lanka, Tri-Series, Game 2, Bulawayo, May 30 2010
Apparently Dello traditionally started international game threads with a smilie.

Usually with a grimace, at best with an air of insousiance.

Hello Basil,
Yes, my dealings with Mr Dello have featured some degree of gloominess.

Lankans look like falling short of setting 250.

No one is interested. This one's not even our 3rd XI and the stupid selectors aren't good enough to see that.

This Rohit guy is very talented
i have been quite disappointed with his performance in international cricket BUT hopefully now he is finally on the right track.

Good win augurs well for the future although fitness / fielding etc. are still not where they should be.

How come you always talk about fitness/fielding when India's biggest weakness for almost 80 years has been pace bowling.

It seems Afghanistan is the fittest and most athletic Asian team at the minute.

Someone needs to slap some discipline into him first.
And well done to India on the victory and Rohit on his 2nd successive ton.

Because that I don't believe that pinging them all over the place is ever a strength for any team. Can be an occasional shock weapon but nothing sustainable comes out of it. Incisive bowling be it pace or spin backed up by sharp fielding is a different matter altogether.PlanetPakistan wrote:How come you always talk about fitness/fielding when India's biggest weakness for almost 80 years has been pace bowling.
As a general rule batting is over glorified in India to the determent of other disciplines with bowling being the prime sufferer.

If this was what SL could offer then they've some serious problems on their hand. Its not that they're putting up an entirely inexperienced squad for this series. They're missing just 3 of their frontline players in Sanga, Mahela and Malinga. You may add Murali to that as well but he is not even half the bowler he once was.
As for India, Raina is the only certainty in India's first choice XI. So there is a huge gap between India and SL's teams. If SL still loses with so much ease then warning bells for SL selectors.

As I said earlier, this is by no means SL's 3rd XI. They're only missing 3 of their first choice players. Rest all are pretty much regulars.
