Can't imagine the Poms will be quaking in their boots but...
Sids on the comeback trail
"Injured fast bowler Peter Siddle admits he has not been fit enough to stand up to the rigours of a full international bowling workload.
A promising young career has been punctuated by shoulder and back problems, and Siddle said he now understood the need to reach a higher peak of fitness to maintain his action over long spells.
Siddle, a North Melbourne fan, has trained with the Carlton AFL club as he tries to be ready for this summer's Ashes series.
His most recent back injury has meant months of recovery and rehabilitation this year.
Siddle said his bowling action changed slightly towards the end of a 20-25 over spell and he had to maintain his strength.
"The body over the last few years wasn't in the shape that I would have liked and which (is) probably required to play Test cricket," he said."
---------------------------------------------------------------
Would he make the top 3 or 4 bowlers now? Midge, Bolly and Rhino seem to have their heads in front. Still, Sids and Milf are handy blokes to have ready to go.

I think he's an asset to the Oz attack, as the reliable balls-out-even-in-unhelpful-conditions option. Johnson for example may have more talent, but he can go AWOL sometimes.

Agree 100%, Pete. I like having a Siddle or Hilfenhaus type in the team. Someone who can swing and cut it early, then who can grind away then start getting a bit of reverse as the ball gets older.PeterCS wrote:I think he's an asset to the Oz attack, as the reliable balls-out-even-in-unhelpful-conditions option. If fit, I'd have him taking the new ball with Bolly and then Midge at 1st change.

If he's fit he's a threat - his pace was top 80s mph and he would run in all day. A bit fugly though.

At least you know it's hair with Siders. That lump under Siddle's chin could be congealed gravy for all we know.

Farking spooky is our Cheesey Chappie ... Skulls asks at 5.44 AM for a Groucho, and lo and behold, the emoticon is up and running under 4 hours later ....
Would've taken 3 weeks and a lorra bitching from the Dellboy to make this :groucho happen!

And you could put Sidders in a Robin Hood movie and he wouldn't look out of place. Siddle will always look like a bum.
But yes to answer the question Skulls, no McGrath but pretty solid bowler all round.
