Some people over the years have derided this accent but it's more attractive than the horrible hybrid one referred to in the article and now spoken by many inner-Londoners.

Big Ben in tears.
Original Yorkshire-ish is worse. Is there a name for it?

Take a stroll down the Aldgate or Commercial Road, Petrus ... or even a saunter around West Ham ... you might be pleasantly surprised!

I do. But it's all defocussed Estuary-ish these days. More "Oi! knees app ya groin, Brahhn yeah? hur-hur-hur!" than "Kneezap, Mav-va Brahhn nah yer o' man's brahhn bredd, gorr bloimey wodda norf and sarf in them traahzuz"
