Come on England, Come on England, Come on England...
Much as it pains me to say it, I have to start saying that a bit.
Chappelli explains it all...

Sure, scraping into fourth place isn't the way I'd like Australia to do it, but I'd rather the boys made it than missed out.

Ian Chappell wrote:Australian cricket fans have to start barracking for England. Yes, that's right, cheer for "Ye Olde Enemy," as you like to describe them. The Australian team, now in fifth spot, have little chance of getting past India, South Africa or England to qualify in the top four to play in the ICC's proposed World Test Championship. That leaves fourth team Sri Lanka as the side Australia aim to displace, and this is where England has to help out. If England can repeat their Ashes form and defeat Sri Lanka at home and the Australian touring side also beat them in August, then the boys in the baggy green would move into fourth spot.

It could happen sooner than you think as they've both been lined up as commentators for the WC

How absolutely appallingly Anti-Australian of you, old bean!
Surely you should be jolly well backing the gallant South Australian chap against the lower-class rustic bounder that is Botham?

Well I suppose it's England's duty to throw the Sri Lanka series then.

The plan also appears to rely on Australia beating Sri Lanka.
If we can't dismiss England on Australian wickets, we have next to no hope of dismissing Sangakarra and Jayawardene et al on their home turf.
