Re: World Cup 2011
It was just a cork, wasn't it, where he got one below the thigh pad? Anywho, top knock by ol' cement feet. 200 looked a good show for a while.
Geez the Bangers bowled a pile of tripe.

Didn't he rest for the entire ODI series against SA? Some might suspect that he took a pre-existing injury into the match.

AFAIK, he got injured during the match. Not saying that he might not have been carrying an injury into this game.

Yeah right.
From cricinfo
At one stage in seemed as though Sehwag, who had Gambhir running for him because of cramp
If you can't run because of cramp a runner shouldn't be allowed.

26 off the last 3 overs, they've been keeping basically in touch.
Now Tamim's gone to a good catch. Be tough from here.

We win, and Sehwag wins MoM. And also gives one of the best interviews. Ever.

India's batsmen making a statement today. Bangladesh did well not to just capitulate in response, even if they were never going to get that close, and NRR might come into play if they can beat a side like England or the West Indies to put themselves in the frame.

WTFingF.
They smacked the crap out of the Bangles on a flat track.
Actually if the ultimate FTB Sehwag hadn't been allowed a runner they would have got no where near that score.

370's making a statement even if you're playing a village second XI on a road.

They did that last year at Gwalior when Sachin bludgeoned 200. Against some proven GTBs, i.e., Steyn and Morkel and other assorted one trick ponies.

India have probably the best batting lineup ever in ODIs and certainly the best since i started watching cricket(about 20 years)

Re: World Cup 2011
Clearly the Dickinfo guy wan't paying attention. I watched the whole Indian innings. Seaweed got hit below the thigh pad when he tried to pull a bouncer that kept a bit low and went down like a bag of sh!t. He hobbled for a few balls then called for a runner. All above board.taipan wrote:SG wrote:AFAIK, he got injured during the match. Not saying that he might not have been carrying an injury into this game.

I don't see how the current Indian side is a stronger batting side than what Australia put out in the 2003 final.

Re: World Cup 2011
Absolutely. I'd back the 2003 line up (on it's form at the time) below to outbat the current Indian side 8 times out of 10:
Gilly
Dossie
Drunky
Marto
Boof
Bevo
Roy
Hoggggyyyyyyyy!!!!!
Birchgrove
Bung
*cough* Pidg
And the 1999 XI wasn't too shabby either:
Gilly
MEW
Drunky
Boof
SRW
Bevo
Rags
TGM
Pistol
Flemo
*cough* Pidg
Gilly
Dossie

Even the top 8 of the 2007 Final was pretty tidy:
Gilly
Dossie
Drunky
Roy
Watto
Pup
Paris

Re: World Cup 2011
Don't know what the rule is about having a runner because of cramp, though it might be similar to the "Ranatunga rule" i.e. you can't have a runner for being an overweight, unfit, fat...

Re: World Cup 2011
The rule is you can have a runner if you get cramp, but Seaweed didn't have cramp.

Still. I reckon that if you aren't fit enough to run you should retire hurt until the rest of your team is out. The current system is too open to abuse and in fact can give an advantage to the side with the "injured" player.

That's actually a very interesting comparison because for example i see Yusuf Pathan as a very A Symonds like cricketer. Tendulkar is unmatchable although Ponting at that time was playing quite well, Bevan was a bit like Dhoni(of recent times) and Gilly was a bit like Viru.
...now i am kind of confused BUT i still maintain that the Indian lineup is more talented than the 03 AUS batting.

Re: World Cup 2011
I guess. It does rely on the integrity of the player involved. Bit of a shame that we are questioning the integrity of an international star, but after what the Wacksters got up to in England, I suppose it's understandable.JGK wrote:Still.
