WI ruined the forum. Look at you all, like sacks of mute flob. Not sure who I'm more ashamed of, WI or youse.
Re: 2011 WC, 1st QF, Pak v WI, Dhaka, March 23, 2011
Are you going to declaim that WI didn't start the fire, next?

I thought WI might be the surprise package of this tournament, the surprise as it turned out was that they were so poor. The batting line-up seemed to have some experience along with a couple of big hitters but it turned out a complete disaster. As I pointed out before though it's a tournament for getting runs on the board early, not a double your score after 30 overs if you have wickets in hand tournament, and with Gayle out of form/injured they just didn't have any other firepower at the top. Losing every game against another "big eight" side says it all and this tournament could have set their recovery back some way.

Don't know why we were so surprised by the result of this match. According to the thread title it was played a year ago...

There's an unusual professionalism about Pakistan in this tournament that suggests they may well be considered favourites to win the thing.

Won't last. Hasn't been much professionalism in their fielding.
Won't last.

They probably have the best bowling attack in the tournament, though. Afridi is bowling as well as i've ever seen him bowl.

Batting's got a floppy look about it. But I agree, their attack is, with South Africa's, the best balanced in the tournament.

Wasn't his action reported a while back? I guess he was cleared if he's out here bowling, but he looks very "elbowy" to me.

Most spinners only tend to get reported after they've played Australia.....

I thought that when I last saw him, but evidently no-one really cares anymore.

So:
Pak - Ajmal, Ind - Bhajji, SL - Murali, SA - Botha, Aus - Tait. Seems like the sh!tter teams: NZ & Eng haven't got a chucker - is that where we're going wrong.

We tried it for a while with James Kirtley. Didn't really work out.

He chucks his off spinner at times but the doosra seems fairly clean(most of the times)Dello wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:From what i have seen Ajmal's doosra to Bishoo was the ball of the tournament.

Not as clean as Saqlain but still an amazing bowler

The way Pakistan have played against SL, AUS and WI you would think that they are very hard to beat but there is always a DANGER of a bad Pakistan showing up to the pitch(vs NZ and Canada)

I expected West Indies to do better.
Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul have pace and Darren Sammy is a steady bowler.
Suliemann Ben stokes contraversy every time that he bowls, but at times has bowled with some skill, every team could do with a combative left arm spinner. Even if he is a 6' 7" mentalist who winds up the likes of Steyn and Johnson. Losing Dwayne Bravo was a loss though.
