We wouldn't have to accept their application... the FA could quite easily kick out all the Welsh clubs within the English pyramid.

The FA is a wounded animal waiting for an opportunity to strike... Wales would be one of the few easy targets!

The likeliest scenario will be several dubious decisions going against Swansea next season.

Mark my words, the FA will not want to see Swansea prosper. All the better that they do then!

You are correct though, I'm not sure what the WFA were thinking by backing FIFA, we [Wales Football] never make the finals of a European or World Cup, so I have no idea what the motivation was. Blatter isn't going to help us get to the finals, hold the finals, or be part of organising the finals. We should have followed Scotland - whom I'm guessing REALLY want Rangers or Celtic in the Premier League.

And if it was the mindset of "Let's stick it up England's arse" or "Let's screw the English" - then I don't think that really counts for much, especially in the context.

Only time will tell how this one pans out!

Brad Friedel signs a two year deal for Spurs.

Ah, the comforting sound of wheeling and dealing at White Hart Lane.

Zat will be pleased to have a 40 year old keeper for the next two seasons.

No offence to Brad, he is quite good, but Spurs need a younger keeper.

Unlikely in the extreme - Swansea would say (quite rightly imo) " see you in court"

It's a complicated situation, the whole four Home Nations issue - the Olympic team is also potentially going to impact on matters, even if it is 100% English.

Wales (unlike either Scotland or Northern Ireland) has clubs in the English pyramid plus an independent national side. They need to stay on the right side of both the FA and FIFA for that dual status to continue, which could be difficult if the two are at war!

It is complicated. I think I'm right in saying that Welsh clubs can't qualify for European competition through any of the English tournaments.

So, were Swansea to somehow finish in a Champions League spot next season, it'd be like they didn't exist and the place would go to the next team in the table.

I don't know why Wales even bother with international football. They're never going to qualify for anything. They should just give it up and merge with the English.

Then it'd be less complicated.

If Swansea qualify, the FA can ask for an exemption and they would almost certainly get it.

I seem to remember it being said in the past that if a Welsh club was promoted to the Premier League they would have to agree to be governed by the (English) FA - since if the Welsh FA is ruling on suspensions etc. it potentially creates a lot of inconsistency. I think there was an issue when Cardiff reached the FA Cup Final a few years ago and the Welsh FA got to rule on whether a player was banned or not! Don't think the PL will agree to that potentially impacting on high profile games.

So is. Gomes leaving? (Although given his recent blunders...) Or Cudicini? (Or will he finally get back to match-fit?) And what's happened to the young Pommy keeper on the books? The one who played for England junior teams? I suspect Brad may only be in the squad as cover.

And don't forget Clemence, Shilton and Jennings all played into their 40s.

And nice to see the Australia NZ friendly got the attention it deserved here. Even though New Zealand was the only team not to lose a match at the 2010 World Cup.

Had similar thoughts about Gomes myself a few weeks back. He was starting to look like a Pakistani wicketkeeper instead of a Premier League goalkeeper.

Apparently wants a $2.5 million beach house, two luxury cars, a share of the gate takings, and a big say in team selection.

But i'm sure he's a lovely chap.

Oh, and nice to see Ryan Giggs doing even more to reinforce the concept that Manchester United players are honourable gentlemen. He's been rooting his brother's missus for years. Although it seems she might just be a quite a bit of a slut herself.

He learnt everything he knows in the EPL so I doubt that is the case.

Surely, the only Aus club that could pay him what he's after is Newcastle.
