Likewise, the worst Chelsea team to win it - if they do hang on.

Don't even get me started on Arsenal, who are still somehow in with a shout.

One of the poorest Premier League seasons quality-wise for ages. Exciting, though.

The Premiership is crud, there can be no more poignant an example of its crudness than in Burnley somehow reaching 27 points. Even Derby's epicly bad side would have amassed 20 this year.

Read this on BBC's Footy Commentary from some knob:

"And that's why it's the most exciting league in the world. Pure drama at the Lane & Eastlands. Speed, commitment & unbelievable noise."

It's not the most exciting league in the world, epic qunt faces like you just keep saying it is to each other and this qualifies as FACT in your big gay world of sucking each other's cocks you penis headed monkey raping shit eating bum fluff wearing queer mo.

I don't get you guys, so you'd rather watch 2 team league like la liga or 1 team leagues like serie a and the bundesliga. For entertainment and excitement the pl is the best.

I said it was exciting. But the quality is pretty ordinary this year.

Do you disagree?

Because the league is more closely contested does that mean the quality is not as good? No I don't believe that's true. If you want to compare the English teams with others in europe I think they stack up pretty well apart for Barcelona, but they are pretty much ahead of every team even in their own league.

United have put in a title challenge with a side that hasn't had a defence for much of the season - and when Ferdinand has been fit to play, he's looked like a doddering old man - a midfield containing players of such limited ability as Carrick, Fletcher and Gibson, a couple of geriatrics whose careers are winding down in Giggs and Scholes and one striker. Last season they had Ronaldo and Tevez. They're clearly a shadow of previous incarnations.

Arsenal don't have a keeper, defence, more than one midfielder who can tackle and haven't had a striker worthy of the name all season. Would any of their players - even Fabregas - get into their last title-winning side?

Chelsea are leading the league by default. Their aging, pedestrian side aren't a patch on Mourinho's title-winners of three or four years ago. They've got virtually the same playing staff, but the majority of the players have all seen their best days come and go.

Therefore, the overall quality has dropped.

chelsea doing their best to fcuk this up. they had a bit of luck against utd and bolton, seems its running out now.

will liverpool roll over to stop utd breaking their record?

quality of the league hasnt gone down, the other teams have caught up. and you can argue that means the quality has gone up. the team that wins it will have something like 83 points and that is in line with previous years (bar a few excellent sides like the invincibles, jose's first team that only lost 1).

As I've been saying for months, Spurs will find a way to cock up their ECL qualifying in a heartbraking way. Here's what the crystal ball is saying...

Currently Spurs 34 played 64 pts GD +28, Man City 34 34 played 62 pts GD +27.

Next weekend, Spurs go to Old Trafford, and will complete a remarkable hat-trick of upset wins, 1-0, while Arsenal will keep their Title hopes alive by beating Man C 2-0.

Spurs P 35 67 pts GD +29
Man C P 35 62 pts GD +25

To start the month on May, Spurs are at home to Bolton, Man City are at Home to Aston Villa. Spurs will fumble their way to a 2-2 draw, with an equaliser courtesy of a dodgy penalty late in injury time, leading their fans to think the gods of football have finally decided to give them a break. Man City will again stumble 1-0, against a Villa Side trying to hang on in the race for Europa League qualification.

Spurs P 36 68 pts GD +29
Man C P 36 62 pts GD +24

The big midweek match on May 5 takes on epic proportions for both teams, with Spurs only needing a draw to secure fourth spot. Man City will score in the first minute, and again in the next 10. Spurs will then realise that defending might be a good idea.

Spurs P 37 68 pts GD +27
Man C P 37 65 pts GD +26

So it will all come down to the last weekend of the season, Spurs at relegation-bound Burnley, Man City at West Ham, who have just avoided the drop and have basically nothing to play for. Burnley are desperate to leave the top flight with something to remember and after playing 94 minutes of frenetic football, with no goals either way, their keeper will roost a goal kick three quarters of the length of the ground and a last-ditch volley will see the ball into the top corner of the net for a 1-0 win.

Meanwhile at West Ham, Man City find themselves 2-0 down with 10 to play, before Emmanuel Adebayor comes alive, grabbing two in a matter of minutes, all square at 90 minutes and a staggering 7 minutes of injury time to come. With the last kick of the match, inded the last kick of the season, City will grab a last-gasp win and be off to play in the big Euro comp next year. And Spurs fans will again console themselves with the thought that there's always next year. Or the year after that. Or some year in the 2020s...

Man C P 38 68 pts GD +27
Spurs P 38 68 pts GD +26

Five days ago, I would have said no way in the history of time would Spurs have beaten Arsenal and Chelsea in less than a week. But Jay, you know the above scenario, in terms of great football chokes, makes sense. Spurs will stuff it up as badly as they possibly can.

Now we know why Almunia is Arsenal's regular goalkeeper - the reserve goalie is even worse!

That must have been very embarrassing for Arsenal supporters. Two goals up with time running out & they somehow managed to lose!

I think Arse fans knew the game was up before todays game. But yes, throwing a 2-0 lead in 10 minutes and letting Titarse Brumble score against you. That's gotta hurt.

i expected it as soon as watson scored their first one. every game theres a keeper howler. wenger got tactics wrong, shouldve bought RVP on earlier and pressed for the 3rd. everyone knows we cant protect leads, sadly.

whats annoying is all 8 of our defeats this season have been back to back. city-utd / sunderland-chelsea / utd-chelsea / spurs-wigan. no fight, no character, no trophies.

roll on the world cup.

Wenger seems to think they've got a few signings in the bag already and are just waiting for the end of the season to announce them.

Chamakh is obviously one. Wonder who else...?

he used the word "deals" didnt he...if there is indeed more than one deal done, it would have to be a CB. my money would be on subotic.

unlike normal transfer windows, wenger tends to do his biz early in wc year (e.g. rosicky). expect at least 4 signings.

he also hinted almunia isnt going to be his #1 next season...the penny has finally dropped.
