Arrested for betting because betting is illegal in Pakistan.

Hardly a crime IMO and should be released ASAP.

It's a "crime" in Pakistan and India but in most other countries it will be perfectly ok.

It will only be a problem is if he is betting on the games that he is officiating in.

I cannot believe anyone can possibly think that it is okay for an umpire to be involved in a betting ring. Whether betting is legal or illegal in that country is immaterial.
