You know you want this. It's where I keep the bails up to date with what's going down on Twitter. I Tweet so you don't have to. Be grateful.

Todays offering actually comes from yesterday, but I wasn't here so it counts.

I could care ess about twitter, but that would require a major effort. It's already in the lowest third of my DGAF list.

Old Trafford was obviously out of consideration this year but surprisingly neither Headingley or Durham got one either. Maybe the Emirates sponsorship up in Chester-le-Street was an attempt to confuse the Test-awarding powers that the ground was in London...

Chester-le-Street is a full hour and a half's drive from the Scottish border... it's almost like describing Edgbaston as being in London! (I know, the Americans would...)

Still, agree that the Tests up there haven't been the best supported so far - but crap opposition in freezing May doesn't help. They at least deserve one in peak season, if the likes of Cardiff, the Rose Bowl etc. get them.

The Rose Bowl's in the South. The South should always get cricket. It's a birthright.

I suppose it's better than in football where Wembley is guaranteed every England match for about 25 years... in rugby I never remember them leaving Twickenham for any meaningful match either. It's a good thing about cricket that they do take it around the country, but the twin threats of new grounds and guaranteed Lord's/Oval Tests are squeezing the amount of matches available to the other four established venues in the Midlands and North. And they have all had to carry out significant redevelopments to keep Test cricket in their parts of the country at all.

IMO, both are correct, it's the delivery which probably varies.

"I couldn't care less" says it literally, that I couldn't care less about something.

"I could care less" is also a negation in delivery if not the literal meaning, meant in an ironic way where the exact opposite is implied.

Whatever.

Really? It only 'works' if people mean it sarcastically as it implies the exact opposite of what it means. And I don't think most people do use it sarcastically. It's nonsense.

Another one that drives me mental is "stop being ignorant" when someone is ignoring someone. IGNOR(E)ant. Get it? 90% of England seems to use it this way. Again - nonsense.

Spoken like a true Yank.

Americans lazily use "could care less" in place of "couldn't..." as language isn't their first language.

You could not care less. Your degree of not caring has bottomed out.

You could care less. You still have some wiggle room in the not caring stakes.

Language. It's what we'll all be using one day.

Of course, you could have read my entire post. All three sentences of it. Less than one line of text on a monitor with a half-decent resolution setting.

I'll even re-post it for you.

Zat wrote:I could care less about twitter, but that would require a major effort. It's already in the lowest third of my DGAF list.

Now, if you read that, instead of taking it as some form of hearsay, you'll see that it's actually quite different from me saying 'I couldn't care less' about it. It gives added emphasis.
