I've long maintained that tennis is festive.lardbucket wrote:JGK wrote:I see Henman Hill has now become Murray Mound.
When Mark Phillippousis played Fed in the 03 final, it was known as The Pile of Poo.
When the Poo was Rogered on Centre Court?

I've long maintained that little Leyton could have been anything in tennis but for his lack of a killer shot to finish things off. He's now 2 sets up against Soderling, who looks woefully out of sorts, but Hewitt has struggled to finish points off all through those sets. I fully expect the Swede to now win this in five.

Midway through the second set and Federer finally loses his serve.
Not a service game mind you, just the first point he's lost on serve. Lad.

Just realised it's ten years since Goran won. I know everyone wanks over that Nadal V Federer final but I think the 2001 final was the best in terms of drama, was pure hollywood fantasy.

He was unbelievable that year he won it, looked like he would be the next man to dominate for years. Perhaps it was just a weak year, as he was quickly surpassed by Federer and Roddick before Nadal emerged a couple of years later.Zat wrote:I've long maintained that little Leyton could have been anything in tennis but for his lack of a killer shot to finish things off.

I think it's difficult to keep up that manic intensity for years.

He looked unbeatable against Henman.
Pretty standard then.

Nadal's got one tough quarter - Del Potro, Fish and Berdych. Even if he doesn't slip up, hopefully a couple of five-setters ahead of a possible semi against Murray...

Tomic. The new Hewitt. Just not as likeable.*
*This is a deliberate attempt at irony because Hewitt - even to his fans - isn't really remotely likeable.

Tomic is the youngest guy into the second week of Wimbledon since Goran and Chang in 1990.

Hmmm - not a bad effort by the FOAT but the Sod was pretty crook so you could say he was there for the taking. Next up Bernie has Xavier Malisse, also very winnable.
He's set two new career records already this week - furthest progress into a Slam (last 16), and longest time without he or anybody in his family doing or saying anything stupid (approximately 86 minutes)..

At least Tomic has time on his side to address the problem.

Could've sworn I said something about how unlikeable Hewitt is. Just let me check...lardbucket wrote:Zat wrote:Tomic. The new Hewitt. Just not as likeable.
