Attention: On Foxtel tonight
12.30 am; 1 hour of highlights from the third (Melb) Oz v ROW game from Jan 1972. Featuring DKL, Dougie and of course Sobers' epic double century, some say the best innings ever played in Australia.

Probably will also feature the rare incident of ChappellG smashing the ball into Giffords boot only for it to ricochet about twenty metres away to where it was caught. Chappell who had made a ton in the first innings may have been able to help the Aussies over the line.

May have happened twice in that series, then, IIRC.
I seem to recall that one of the wickets that fell in ROW's second innings in Sydney, before the rain fell, was similar? Can anyone confirm?
In 1968-69 an unfortunate West Indian batsman was out caught by Keith Stackpole at deep backward square leg ... after the ball had hit Eric Freeman fielding in close, in the head (no helmets then) ... and ricocheted all the way to Stackpole.
Then there was that Wayne Phillips dismissal in 1985 ... a ball was absolutely smashed into the recoiling back of the short leg fielder, and bounced back across the pitch to be neatly caught at short cover.
