Ease the new guy in at 3, then when he's ready (or not), drop him down to number 6.
Hussey should be batting there. end of.

What ever happened to the 'ease the new kid in at 6' approach? Or do they only do that for (real) dubbers?
Wasn't Ussie the first person to debut at 3 for Aust for a gazillion years?

Didn't Langer debut at 3 in 1993?

We really threw Yallop in at 3 against the 75-76 West Indians, when Big Qunt and Little Qunt were both still in the side?

That's we Poms called Lillee and Thomson too.
Actually, Lillee wasn't playing on Yallop's debut.
Didn't seem to do Oz much harm anyway - runaway winners in 75/76.

Mind you, WIndies immediately decided to fight the four-quick fire with megafire as a result. .... .... taking brutalisation by fast bowling to a new level. Roberts, Holding, Garner, etc. then homicidal Croft and headcases like Patto to follow ....
Half-joking "I want to see blood on the pitch", moves on to a deadly earnest "Brutalise me with (chin) music ..." ?
And that ain't funnehh.
Esp if your name is Gatting ....

With the exception of the temperature variation that was the exact forecast for Galle (Galle 29-31)

Hmm, interestingly, Big Qunt and Little Qunt moved one spot down the order from 3 and 4 after Andy Roberts reamed us in Perth in T2. Redpath and Turner opened and McCosker batted at 3 for T3 and 6, while Yallop took 3 for T3 and 4.

SL is probably like Darwin, which is 33 all year round.Bradman wrote:skully wrote:Weather forecast for Kandy for next few days:

Sounds like paradise. Definately on the cards next time we tour. SL is probably not much bigger than Greater Darwin.

stooopid decison from hildy et al...pup should take reponsibility to move up the order...expect he will eventually follow Ksnr's lead of dropping himself down the order to engage in some redinkus maximus activity

of course pup should bat at no.3 S...should lead by example as punter has tried (and sometimes succeeded) in doing...he is curretnly our leading bat and in the leadership position...
I think it is dreadful that bog has been set up to fail.

Clarke averages 20 at number four. 20!!! And he's batted about 30 innings there now.

I dont see how you can say a bloke who bats number 3 or opens has been 'set up to fail' by making him bat at number 3
A number 3 like Koaja made to bat at 6 could also say he has been set up to fail
If you are given a baggy green ...take your opportunity
