Sri Lanka v Australia, 2nd Test, Kandy, 8-12 Sep, 2011
Australia: no changes? Marsh in for Khawaja or Hughes?
Sri Lanka: who else have they got? What's happened to their bowling? I think they miss Vaas more than they miss the CBER.

No changes for Aus (unless they fly Fleas in). The only one I'd consider would be Cot for Steady.

I think Copeland did well enough to stay there.

Aye. 16 overs for 20 runs tells a story.

Still some questions over Lyon & Khawaja but the side will be unchanged.
Re: Sri Lanka v Australia, 2nd Test, Kandy, 8-12 Sep, 2011
Siddle won't come in as he didn't bowl that well in the warm-up. Marsh failed so probably won't get in either. They'll probably stick to a winning formula but there's not much that SL can do as their attack would be cannon fodder on a belter but if they serve up another bone dry track they're rolling the dice with the toss. There's no evidence that their attack is better than ours on that sort of pitch anyway.

So all the deathmongering from Aus fans on here before the series is starting to look a little silly then?
I'd understand if you were playing England or South Africa to be a little worried, but really on the evidence of the past year, SL have not a lot to offer in the test arena.

The 'deathmongering' took into account the weakness of our side, their inexperience, and the overseas tour.
We could still lose 2-1, easily.

It's what we Aus AND English fans do, vilks. We get very, very up when we are going well, but slag the fark out our national team when they are sh!t. And when they go well unexpectedly, it is grouse as buggery.vilkrang wrote:So all the deathmongering from Aus fans on here before the series is starting to look a little silly then?

Indeed we could, L. But I was impressed with the discipline, particularly of the bowlers. Hopefully no complacency will set in.lardbucket wrote:We could still lose 2-1, easily.

Yeah this is true. I of course have never been guilty of such things though...... .skully wrote:It's what we Aus AND English fans do, vilks. I'll take your word for it, vilks.
But it harks back to a point both lardy and I were making earlier in the week. We Aus and English fans are very similar. We celebrate when our team is doing justice to themselves, and we bag the Ker-Rye-St out of them when they underperform. But we rarely stomp all over the opposing English OR Aus supporters when the chips are down, except for a handful of individuals. Of course, Dan may disagree vehemently.

No changes but jury clearly still out on Phews, Lyon, Copeland and Ussie.
I don't think the pitch suited Copeland as it had no bounce so if he is still doing a role in the those circa then there are positive signs but he really does look innocuous.

Copeland's certainly doing OK for a bloke who was a keeper-batsman 4 years ago, though. Good to have someone handy to take Haddin's place if necessary, too.

FWIW, I thought both Fuse (ripped off blind in 2nd dig) and Koaja showed promise. Will wait and see on Steady and Reeb. Ironically, I think Cot may have done OK on this deck.JGK wrote:No changes but jury clearly still out on Phews, Lyon, Copeland and Ussie.

But yeah, you don't change a winning side.
