Australians vs. SA 'A' @ Potchefstroom Nov 1-4
http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia/content/story/538610.html
Hussey implied it's Clarke's way or the highway.
The biggest interest in this match is the settling of the fast bowling makeup for the first test in Cape Town. Johnson and Harris looked nailed in selections but Cummins, Copeland and Siddle will battle out the other spots. If we go for a four pronged pace attack there will be one unlucky guy, though either Beer or Lyon could also gain a spot. The team will be named shortly before play tonight and should provide a clue to the selectors' thinking.
With de Villiers almost certainly out of the first test, Australia must be firming as strong favourites to take out the CT test. The Saffies won't get any four day cricket so will be underdone compared with their Aussie counterparts.

He's a bit of a suck up Hussey, isn't he. Fine player, but woefully uncontroversial and predictable at press conferences. Never mind that he and Katich practically grew up together and have known each other since Perth junior cricket. They were best men at each other's weddings, weren't they? Despite all that, Hussey still produces the "we're all behind the captain" line.
Meh, he's a great team man, but I wont be rushing out to buy his autobiography when he retires.

Hodge MacGill Clark Elliott Symonds Hauritz have all played less Test cricket than their records indicated they should because they didnt fit into the captain's mate list
Bad luck to Kat ...but well done to Clarke if it is his doing that Kat got cut (and garquen stupid if not)

But those players were also around when Australia had an extremely strong team. I don't think any of them were better than any player in the test team at the time. Katich is still without doubt one of the best batsmen in Australia.
Yeah granted, they weren't best friends with the captain, but on the other hand- Hodge, MacGill, Symonds........I don't think they were best friends with most people.

What do you expect him to say when he's still a member of the squad - " Actually, Kat is right - Pup is the biggest qunt to walk the earth"

Apparently Duminy looked all at sea against the short ball again.

Which is why I have been saying Peterson and Duminy should not be picked.

Kuhn has averaged over 40 for a number of years now. Tsolekile gets found out at international level, has one good season since then, and leap-frogs Kuhn into the A team.
No wonder half of them want Kolpak deals in England.

9/176, doubt this match will go the distance with the Saffas thin on the ground for reserves.

Fine start to the tour for the visitors.

Turnaround.
Aussies under pressure with the bat.
At least Hughes is showing his well-known maturity, batting strong and batting long when he loses his opening partner early.
