For the piefellow and the large hound
Doesn't look to bad for the first 3 days of the Hobart Test. Cool to mild and very little rain. Looking forward to it immensely.

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
There's increasing speculation that the Hobart test will be Ponting's farewell.

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
Agreed. Drunky was talking up the importance of the Bannie series before the side for T1 was selected. Sounds like he has every intention of being part of it..

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
I heard a few journos mention it. The theory is that he will step down when all the younger batsmen are fit.
Unless Ponting makes a century against NZ, can he really be allowed to stand in the way of Marsh and Khawaja?

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
The Sundy SPFSP reckoned if Watto had've been fit Drunky may have been tapped on the shoulder. The NSP "apparently" rated Koaja's 65 higher than Drunky's 62 v Yarps.

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
I still reckon Khawaja is the new Steve Smith. Keeps getting selected but his international career has had more failures than successes.
..plus it would be a big mistake to play him at Bellerive. He's never made a score there at any level of the game.

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
He may be the new Steve Waugh. Slow start then massive career. We can but hope.

Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
Maybe all this talk of retirement is doing Punter's head in.
Although, which one remains to be seen.

Hmmmm...we don't put too much faith in long range forcasts down here. For instance, it was 30c in Hobart today but they are forcasting snow to 1000m on Thursday. The best forcast is to stick your head out the window on the day & see what is happening. Irrespective of that, i'm predicting that the Cricket will be hot & the beer cold.
Re: For the piefellow and the large hound
I am hanging on to my fervent hopes that lardy and I get three good days at the cricket and get to spend some time with some dude who owns a big black labby (mebee over a cheeky red or two later on).
I dearly hope I don't fly to Lonny, drive to Hobart and end up with 3 dreary rainy days huddled in the stands waiting for play to start.

you guys will have an ace time...tho lardy may need sit between the two oz unabashed tories of the forum (bodyline does not count - his views being extra terrestial) to prevent the prganisation of a tory revolution..
by the way Punter was reported on SEN as denying the Hobart rumour and as saying he had no retirement plans

And methinks you underestimate the piefellow. I think if we didn't have a moritorium, we may have had some hearty and agreeable discussions lauding the talents of the Blue Ribbons and bemoaning what the idiot Pinkos have done to our country, our economy and our society.
Here's to witnessing a slashing Ponting masterpiece.
