The Indian Squad for the Test series in Australia
will be selected tomorrow I hear. I'd take -
Kumble
Dhoni
Sachin
Dravid
Ganguly
Laxman
Yuvraj
Jaffer
Parthiv
Harbhajan
Zaheer
RP
Munaf
Pathan
Ishant
Another batsman
Can't decide on the last spot.
Don't see Karthik scoring too many in Australia, so dropped him, tough choice. Patel's been in scorching form and as long as he doesn't have to keep, he should do a decent job. Ishant picks himself after the fifer today and Pathan goes because we don't have anyone better. And he can bat. Would have liked Badrinath or Tiwary to be picked for the series but can't see how they'll be any use, unless our batsmen are seriously hit by injuries. Better off at the domestic matches.

They'll probably take Gambhir as the last batsman. Or Akash Chopra. And they'll pick Karthik.

Munaf is the strike bowler in absence of Sreesanth.
They need to take Sreesanth as well though, and Karthik will go.

Re: The Indian Squad for the Test series in Australia
Isn't Sreesanth definetly out of all three Tests? He probably wont be back until the ODI tri series.

No he is on road to rapid recovery. And he is desperate to play in Australia.

Sreesanth was given choice of surgery or Ayurveda, he chose the latter.

Isn't Agarker expected to make the trip after his last decent performance Down Under?

Doesn't matter how well Agarker does, there will be plenty who'll remember him as Aquacker.

Re: The Indian Squad for the Test series in Australia
ideally sehwag would be in but im guessing theres no going back on the initial 24 draft.
is santh definitely out? if so, pathan probably gets in ahead of VRV. hopefully no agarkar#! santh/munaf/zak/rp/ishant would be a handy pace attack.
im sure karthik will be picked - bit harsh to drop him after he was top scorer in england.
that leaves the final opener - id go with chopra
my pick from the probables, fitness permitting
jaffer
karthik
chopra
dravid
tendulkar
laxman
ganguly
yuvraj
dhoni
kumble
harbhajan
zaheer
munaf
santh
rp
ishant

Re: The Indian Squad for the Test series in Australia
Sreesanth's injury leaves us a bit handicapped. Was counting on him to be fit for the series really. Now, if any of the other three out of Munaf, Zaheer or RP get injured, which is a possibility, we'd have to play a dud 3rd seamer.
NDTV reckon Pankaj Singh is in with a shout of making it to the side.

Re: The Indian Squad for the Test series in Australia
So much support for lazy inconsistent Munaf? Man, there must be a lot of Gujaratis posting on this forum.

More chance of Kapil Dev coming out of retirement.

Quite surprising to see so much support for him on this forum.leg glancer wrote:So much support for lazy inconsistent Munaf? Man, there must be a lot of Gujaratis posting on this forum.
For stats sake, he is yet to complete a full test series after India toured WI in '06 and thats 18 months since that series.
Whats the point of taking such an unfit bowler on a tour as rigorous as Australian tour is?

And I actually believe Chawla would be better off than Kumble in Aus.
