Australia v India, 2nd Test, Sydney, 3-7 January, 2012
bring it on ...
Wade for Haddin the only change necessary for Australia, Raina for Kohli for India I would assume, maybe Rahane for Gambhir?

They won't drop Haddin by the way as they will be reluctant to change a winning team.
He should go though.

Aye, Haddit looks like a shot duck at the crease at the moment.
And what a fluctuating few days for Paris. A duck and a dropped catch then turns into the batting hero in the 2nd dig and has superglue on his hands in the field.

A strange game from Paris ... first suffering and later benefitting from the 'no UDRS' policy of India within the same game.

No Raina. Please no Raina, he's an eyesore for Test cricket. Rohit Sharma in for Kohli is the only possible change, but don't expect any changes.

I do like watching Rohit bat I must say.
As for Huss, this test has a bit of an Gabba feel from last year - under pressure going in, gets some runs and then everything turned to gold for the rest of the series. Hopefully we'll get a reprise this summer before he calls time.

One has to POSL but. On balance Aus came out the main benefactor of no-DRS in the match. I was just hoping that TLM got sawn off to see what bleating eventuated.lardbucket wrote:A strange game from Paris ... first suffering and later benefitting from the 'no UDRS' policy of India within the same game.

Hope Hussey does well, 6 tests ago he was single handedly getting Australia out of deep holes. Short memories, his innings at Galle was one of the best of the year.

Hard to know. Aust were the only team I think to have people given out when they weren't so you don't know what would have happened. Obviously when someone is not out when they should have been you can exactly tell how much it has cost you.
I feel sorry for Moo - he was well on his way to a debut ton.

Aust will go in with no change. If Paine were fit, they might have given him a run but i get the feeling they are not yet convinced by Wade & Neville doesnt seem to be in the picture at all so no change.
Re: Australia v India, 2nd Test, Sydney, 3-7 January, 2012
I think that's the line of thinking the NSP has, BD. Paine is the heir-apparent, and they seem to have decided to persist with Haddit until Timmy is right.Big Dog wrote:Aust will go in with no change. It's a serious injury Paine's carrying, though. Wade is pretty close to the mark. If Haddin fails in Sydney, I think Wade will come in.

Re: Australia v India, 2nd Test, Sydney, 3-7 January, 2012
Golly, Gambhir is woeful. I'm talking dire. I mean, apart from a little-but-heavy golden period he's a bag of shite. Talk about overhyped... I'm not sure how they dare even mention him in the same breath of the others... he's finished his last two years of Test cricket with 994 runs at an average of 31. Why they wouldn't replace him with Rahane is totally and utterly beyond me.....
Ishant Sharma anyone? No? We all hear how unlucky he is... oooh unnnnlucky!! How's this for luck: he hasn't even had a good year in his 5 year career. He's averaging 37 for the year and that includes playing on some awesome bowling surfaces and bullying a young and mercurial WI batting line-up. Same as last year, really. He's as incisive as a butter knife on reinforced concrete. Get Praveen in, if fit, if not then Ojha even. Or fly over Agarkar. Anyone's better than this clown.
Get these passengers out of the side and India aren't half-bad. OK, they're prone to folding quicker than the new EZ Deck Chairs, but who isn't in this mixed up age...

India will be unchanged, though I do agree that Ishant has the sharpness of taipan's wit.

Enough's enough with Ishant, IMO. My brain must've been addled, I knew Praveen was injured. Varun Aaron then. This stubborn undroppable thing he's got going on is so 'Broad and England'. OK, Broad came good, so my point's sort of moot, but how long do they give him? He's had 42+ Tests!
Re: Australia v India, 2nd Test, Sydney, 3-7 January, 2012
Thing is he isn't all out crap. He bowls mostly steady unthreatening short of good length balls that are sort of hard to score against, which is still better than (example) Sreesanth with 1 magic ball and 5 gifts.
Aaron's not in the squad and Mithun and Vinay Kumar would be worse IMHO, so I hope they stick with Ishant (unless it's worth going with 2 spinners in Sydney, unlikely given Australia will probably go for 4 man pace).

I'll be on the concourse in front of the O'Reilly Stand for a boy's day out on Day 1.
Then I've managed to jag tickets in the Members for Days 3 and 4.
I'll also consider trying to get tickets for Day 2 if Sachin is a chance of getting his century then.

Aye, TBH I reckon they'd be best served with fielding the two spinners that went a long way to winning the WI series themselves.
Re: Australia v India, 2nd Test, Sydney, 3-7 January, 2012
Stuart Clark confirmed on the wireless this morning that Ravi Shastri is in fact paid by the BCCI to talk up Indian cricket while commentating.
Clearly the BCCI have too much money, CA get the Nein boys to pay them to talk up Aust cricket.
