What the Aus fans think
Results of Cricket Fan Poll
The best bits...
"More than two-thirds of the fans believe Ponting should continue on to the 2013 Ashes series in England, with 61 per cent voting for Hussey to also be there."
"Such has been Warner's impact in his short but spectacular international career that he was voted the most popular player in Australian cricket with 20.4 per cent of the votes."
"Clarke was overwhelmingly voted the best man to cap- tain Australia, gaining more than 80 per cent support after his history-making series against India."
"Haddin was a clear leader in the least popular category with 37.3 per cent. And 75 per cent of respondents wanted Haddin replaced in the Test side. And nor do people want to see Mitchell Johnson or Phil Hughes recalled to the team any time soon."
-------------------------------------------
PMSL. 75% of voters say Midge and Fuse will not play another Test. Sagacity. I'm only surprised that it wasn't unanimous.

Still, Fergie (or anyone) is hardly bashing down the door to replace him.

[Big Dog] WTF?? UK couldn't bat his way out of a wet paper bag. Get Nernie, or Bailey, or any bloke with two heads in there. [/Big Dog]

AYE...
But seriously, it amazes me the number of people (not just forumers) who think UK is still a prospect. He was given numerous chances & failed. The current NSP obviously saw what i saw & dropped him. Significantly, it is mainly the NSW centric media that are still talking him up. UK is a good Shield player but can't cut the mustard at Test level. We need to move with regard to securing a new top order.
Re: What the Aus fans think
Furry muff, BD, but the cupboard is a little bare beyond Watto. Maybe Watto at 3 and blood Mitchell Marsh at 6 after Paris pulls stumps?

As for the survey, if only they allowed free style answers.

Aye. I think Zat posted the poll (or a similar one) a week or so back, and most of us said "fark off if I can't blame Hildick."

I agree. As i said earlier, the questions were aimed at the populist sentiments of the day. so the answers were pretty well guaranteed.
Re: What the Aus fans think
One result I neglected to highlight was that 80% of responders preferred Tests to any other form of the game.

Re: What the Aus fans think
It is difficult to quantify what keepers bring to the table in terms of analyzing opposition batsmen.

Nice to see I was one of the 80%...now if the clueless CA got the hint, instead of trying to drain the cash cow.

Heh, nice work, BA.
Except Haddin dropped (or didn't go for) numerous catches, had generally poor glovework and score bugger-all runs in the summer.taipan wrote:It is difficult to quantify what keepers bring to the table in terms of analyzing opposition batsmen.

Agreed , but just trying to point out that keepers are a strategic part of the team make up. You cannot judge them exactly the same as say an opener, who has 6 failures on the trot, and adds no value elsewhere.

I think he has the talent to be a test player but at the moment his head is letting him down. He just seems to bottle it in tests as if he doesn't believe he is good enough. Granted, your head is a significant hurdle but he wouldn't be the first player who looked pants their first go at test level but came back later on and became the goods.
Perhaps if Bruce Francis was given another go....

But a keeper who drops catches, and scores bugger-all has no place in a national team.taipan wrote:skully wrote:Heh, nice work, BA.Except Haddin dropped (or didn't go for) numerous catches, had generally poor glovework and score bugger-all runs in the summer.taipan wrote:It is difficult to quantify what keepers bring to the table in terms of analyzing opposition batsmen.
