Sang on a minute! Surely, Broad is the logical replacement for Harmison, like-for-like and all that.
The thought of Swann playing at the expense of a seamer sends a chill down my spine - picture the scene, Hoggy ricks his back again and we'll be left with Siders Collingwood and Bopara as our seam "attack". It just doesn't bear thinking about.

Seems to me that they're pretty confident Hoggy and Harmy will line-up, and are thinking of dropping Monty.

'Wais probably dodged a bullet, to be fair.
The wicket's probably going to be a shocker.

They're not going to drop Panesar. Wouldn't make any sense in a must-win game in traditionally spin-friendly conditions.
I'm a fan of Swanny, I think he's a good cricketer. But to throw an untried bowler into a do-or-die Test at the expense of a guy who has form when it comes to bowling his side to Test victories is silly.
Re: Sri Lanka v England, 3rd test, Galle, 18-22 Dec
MerdeTV is showing us Aus v Aus A from 94-5 as a filler.
Highlight so far: A laughable handbag-swinging session between hayden and McGrath that the 9 clowns tried to build into the Gunfighgt at the Ok Corral.

Some guy called George (last name) has just bowled Taylor. (Short-assed fast bowler. Can't remember him at all.)

Shane George from Sozzie...he and MacIntyre held out the wozzies for around 20 overs to get the Sozzies a draw for their last Shield

His mullet wasn't in the same league as his mate BBB ('Buff Bluster & Bullshit') Harritty. but maybe he didn't need it because unlike BBB, he looked like he could actually bowl.

Now we've got Aus v Eng 86-87, with a jet-black-haired Steve Waugh bowling to a haired Gower.

Poms win the toss and bowl . . . a good chance to make early inroads, methinks.

Sidebottom getting treatment on the outfield - went for a sliding stop in the outfield and appears to have damaged a knee.

Hoggard and Sidebottom both bowling indiferently - there is some swing, but it is poorly directed.

A couple of LBWs see the Lankans a 2/40ish. Sanga may have been caught behind of the Hog but not given.

Sangakarra.
Where's finky? He jumped all over me for questioning Harmisons bowling on the sub-continent. Watching him struggling to bowl 78-82 mph military medium trundlers is pitiful to watch. What's the point?

Terrible isn't it? I'm so depressed I might go Christmas shopping.
Lloyd reckons that if Richard Hadlee or Derek Underwood had been bowling on that pitch the Lankans wouldn't have got a 100. Were they THAT good or are Harmless, Panesar, Sidebottom and Shrek that bad?

The lads got some swing, but it was very wayward . . . and Harmless is bolwing about as fast as Ricky Ponting or Ganguly.
