Sri Lanka v England, 3rd test, Galle, 18-22 Dec
It's been raining in Galle, and there's no guarantee of a prompt start.
A momentous occasion: not quite three years since the Tsunami. The ground does not appear to be any thing like ready, but what the heck. The occasion is much more important.

Whoops. Didn't see this thread. Word is that the first days play could be a complete washout, which would all but certainly squash any hopes England have of levelling the series. Hoggard for Broad will be Englands only change.

So the field is flooded and sodden . . . flodden?

Even if they lose the first day it sounds like it could end up being a two-day result kind of pitch. And a farcical game of cricket would do nobody any favours, despite what it would mean to the area to be able to stage the match.

Could do us some favours if we won the toss and bowled first with two swing bowlers. I'm chuffed if it's juiced up. We need a result pitch, and to lose 2-0 means ****** all more than to lose 1-0 to me.

It's in England's best interests for it to be a result pitch.
If, as is rumoured, it turns out a bit green, a bit juicy and a bit grassy - and with Hoggard likely to be fit to join up with Sidebottom and an improved Harmison - I imagine England will be very pleased indeed.

If it's a green top picking a second spinner would be a waste of time.

What's with the name-calling? Are we back in the playground?
I was talking about bogeys anyway. What were you talking about?!

He dies at the end. Melts.
Saves you the bother of re-reading it.
Actually, that's reminded me of another urban myth...
Where's that thread gone?

The snowman, alas, was nowt but a puddle.
It's the circle of life. Get used to it. Everyone melts.

So looking at the Beeb website, seems we've picked two bowlers or both are NOT 100% fit in Harmi and Hoggard!!!
Nicely done 'Team England'!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks as though the final place will be between Swanny and an ear-infected Harmison.
