If you think about it they've battered us in the early part of every series they've played over here since they returned, but 2008 was the only one they managed to close out! Malcolm's match rescued us in 1994, that turnaround in the last two Tests helped by some dodgy umpiring in '98 and then the '03 series which we saved despite Smith's back to back 250s.Henry wrote:They similarly thrashed us early on in the series in 2003. We managed to scrape a draw out of it.

We play better when we are undercooked.beamer wrote:If you think about it they've battered us in the early part of every series they've played over here since they returned, but 2008 was the only one they managed to close out! Yes getting him out for a duck in the second dig helped.

Boucher must be peed off with AB picking up 8.

Only 1 short of Saffie record held by Boucher & Richardson.

None - it was a non sequitur. Have been saying for some time that Boucher was a weak link. They didn't really miss out with AB behind the stumps. He missed one off Tahir but kept ok considering that England's meant to be tough for those not used to the conditions. Ironic though that they didn't need him to bat and that the batting line was strengthened but underutilised.

I watched the first session of the last day with a Texan. I thought he was watching with me but then he said it's the first time he had ever watched a game of cricket and he had no idea what was what. I wish there had been more good shots played at the time but it was fun trying to explain the game to a newbie even though he was probably none the wiser by lunch.
