Plan B: hoof it up to the big guy for the last 10 minutes.

He's going to Liverpool to sit on the bench and get paid for doing owt. He's a true Scouser.

It'd be an understandable deal for Saints if the fee wasn't a derisory £4m (less sell-on cut to Bristol Rovers), as he'll be 33 next season and can't run for shit. If they'd got a solid 8-9 million, at least they could buy someone reasonable to replace him. Who the f*ck are they going to get for around £3m? Grant Holt?

But to lose your manager, captain, best young player and talisman (and kit deal) just a couple of weeks after finishing the season on a high and promising to kick on to bigger and better things is a f*cking joke.

Saints' first choice striker next season, as it stands, is Sam Gallagher. 18. Bambi on ice.
