The decision is up to him with a rule change now paving the way for him to play for NSW and his English county. Michael Hogan fits into this category too.Basil wrote:Sam Robson, oh wait........

Jordan Silk, Michael Hill, Marcus Harris.
They all look like shit at the crease. But they all tough it out and fight for their runs.
Michael Klinger may be worth a belated call up as well. 15 years after Allan Border labelled him a "certainty" to play for Australia.

Rogers
Silk
Hill
Clarke
Bailey
Voges
Hartley+
Siddle
Pattinson
Harris
Lyon
Looks like a side with a bit of grit. Perhaps there are more naturally talented players out there, but this side has some fighters.

I have been screeching for the Clarke-Bailey-Voges middle order for 18 months. Perhaps Moo is worth persevering with - he has the heart and grit.
Trev's listed XI would shirely put up a better fight than the current side.

Re: Australian Qualified Players who might not be S**t.
I guess the problem with having Rogers, Clarke, Bailey, Voges and Harris in the Aussie side together is that at best, it has perhaps two years in it before they all start retiring at around the same time. That's five players gone at around the same time and Australia are back to square one again, or maybe minus one if Clarke goes.
They're right to have Rogers in there but a guy like Watson is neither here nor there- Not young enough to be considered a 'development' player, but doesn't have enough good performances on the board to be indispensable.

Maddison has shown some promise on the A tour.

Maddinson is another flashy FTB.

Well, fark this continual "building for the future" bullshit. Pick your best available squad - NOW. It'll at least give us a stable and solid batting order for 2 or 3 years while a few youngsters are developed.Henry wrote:I guess the problem with having Rogers, Clarke, Bailey, Voges and Harris in the Aussie side together is that at best, it has perhaps two years in it before they all start retiring at around the same time. I've said it a few times, but MANDATORY PREREQUISITES = Heart and technique. That would immediately count out Twatson, TCS and Fuse.

He looked the goods in his first few outings for the Spivs. Someone needs to kick him in the qunt and tell him every game is not a T20.Henry wrote:Maddinson is another flashy FTB.

Unless he turns out to be a Sehwag type player for Aus.skully wrote:He looked the goods in his first few outings for the Spivs. Someone needs to kick him in the qunt and tell him every game is not a T20.Henry wrote:Maddinson is another flashy FTB.

geebers BD...unlike you to fall for the old dubber future Australian captain hype about Madman...who is Slats on roids without slats' talent...
cannot believe the support for Bailey...has done nothing to suggest he is anything but an average shield batsman

Re: Australian Qualified Players who might not be S**t.
Still....Madman has been our most consistant performer on the A tour. Bailey has been one of our best performers in ODI's but i don't think he would be any improvement on the current bunch of Test no hopers.horace wrote:geebers BD...unlike you to fall for the old dubber future Australian captain hype about Madman...who is Slats on roids without slats' talent...

Re: Australian Qualified Players who might not be S**t.
The weirdness of choosing Bailey as T20 captain but not giving him a go in the Test side is simply beyond me.
