Re: Global Twenty20 domestic proposal
I like it, a super 12 style comp using fringe internationals and younger players rather than our already over worked national teams seems like the best use of 20/20.

It's a little unclear how they'd work the logistics, but sounds like a good use of rubbish cricket to me.

Re: Global Twenty20 domestic proposal
The idea, proposed by sports management group IMG, has a number of
options, including a concept in which privately owned domestic teams
would compete, before two from each country - England, Australia, the
West Indies and India are said to be on board - would proceed to an
international championship.
The IMG proposal includes salary caps and the ability to trade players.
Sorry, still can't see counties loaning their players to a 'privately owned' domestic team...
pie in the sky

Aye, hence this bit:
It is more likely that the teams will be run by the local boards and in Australia's case by the states.

if there is buckets and buckets of indian money in the mix i get the feeling they can get the counties to play ball.

20/20 is taking over the world. I read an article somewhere recently about cricket possibly making a comeback as an olympic sport in the 20/20 format.

2020 has a limited life. People will eventually work out it is as superficial, boring and formulaic as JAMODIs while at the same time performing the horrible disservice of making bowling less attractive for youngsters.

Been going downhill since Jim Robinson faked his own death and went off to forge a successful career as a rent-a-baddy actor in Hollywood under the pseudonym Alan Dale.

Re: Global Twenty20 domestic proposal
Would be an interesting competition. I like the fact 20 / 20 cricket is giving the tired and predictable 50 over format a bit of a kick up the backside (the recent India v England was the best and most entertaining 50 over stuff we've seen in England for ages). And the limited over stuff always helps attract crowds and youngsters so why not milk it a bit more. Rather than 50+ silly JAMODI's often played in front of sparse crowds in silly countries.
Test cricket will always be the ultimate form of the game hopefully.
As for the Olympics - if crickets dull illegitimate cousin can be an Olympic sport then why not cricket?

Limited has clearly changed its meaning.
It took about 30 years for JAMODIs to move onto their death bed.
I stand by my call.

Jesus, young K Powell nearly knocked out cold with a dreadful head clash during something called the Caribbean T20. Horrific footage.
'Horror-head clash' ... thought it might pertain to Hauritz!
