Gower and Atherton are the two worth listening to in that list

How do you explain the Twitter, the Pierce Morgan, the hair, the banterism, the nasal voice, the secretly-cries-himself-to-sleep-because-he-didn't-get-a-Sky-gig-when-even-charisma-vacuum-Strauss(y)-did ?
Yes Strauss sounds like charisma bypass on sedatives.
Vaughan has his glottal stops though.

I always thought he had the most punchable face when he was playing. Especially when he had that 'how has that bowled me?' look.

I am now more certain than anything in life that former England captain is, or at least has become a certified c***.
I invite you to convince me otherwise.
He's harmless enough, just a bit stupid isn't he? Can't you feel some pity for the poor man? The highlight of his whole life was 2005 when his side got very lucky, ended up winning the Ashes by 2 runs, so he got an OBE for it, and now he has to live up to that hype for the rest of his life on what passes for his wits. I'm not sure how he can go on really; it certainly looks and sounds like hard work.

Very lucky? The better side in three of the matches and pretty even in another. Out of five matches.
Re: Michael Vaughan OBE is a c
Well, I meant 'very lucky' compared with say 2010-11, 2006-07, or 2013-14; pretty comparavle with 2009 when the Ashes were won by 1 wicket (Monty's); and two of the English wins in 2005 were incredibly narrow. Failure of the English management of the time to appreciate this probably led to the obvious subsequent hubris and complacency, whatever you would prefer to call it, and flowing on from that their failure to maintain the standards that had allowed them to squeak those wins in the first place.

As someone remarked, he had a fine cover drive.

And the fact that Vaughan got injured, Flintoff got injured, Jones got injured, Trescothick got mentally injured, GO Jones was always shit, Ronnie Knicks is intermittently shit, we continued with Giles and Steve Harmison was on the decline anyway.

Where IS LLL?
Wasn't there a thread sometime about 'I wonder what it's like to be a Derbyshire fan'? I guess everyone knows now.

Aye, but playing at the top of your game is one thing.
Commentating like a desanctified lingam is another.

I grant you that he is not the greatest of commentators, but I think there are far worse, many of them.
That he was one of my favorite cricketers to watch does make me a bit biased in my opinions about his commentary though.

I don't know why but just his name sounds faintly ridiculous, Pythonesque somehow, and I feel there should be some sort of absurd Michael Vaughan song that parodies him ... perhaps along the lines of the 'Dennis Moore' Python song

Re: Michael Vaughan OBE is a c
A while back I was under the illusion that our cricketers weren't qunts like our footballers... well, it turns out that nearly all of them are, just in a different way to the footballers... and in a different way again to the rugby players (why isn't "rugbyers" a noun?)
Some of our Olympic sportspeople still seem decent enough people, but maybe that's because they're only in the spotlight every four years.

There's good and bad everywhere ... some are/seem decent enough. Strauss, Gooch, Simon Jones, Prior, Trott, Gillespie, Marto, even Fred Flintoff and Gough seem decent enough, very little "side" (not all massively bright perhaps, but that's not the point at issue), and a few like Jack Russell, Colly, Gilly salt of the earth.

Re: Michael Vaughan OBE is a c
The thing that grates the most is that he's just so intent on becoming a rent-a-sleb like Freddie except Freddie knows his limitation and just plays the thick, heavy drinking, northern lad. Vaughan has some weird asperation to be Ricky Getvais. Or more accurately David Brent
