Well those like Chappelli and the rest of the Nine com. box who rattle on about declarations all the time should be happy. Amla may be more likely to remain positive and aggressive too.

DOMINGO defends PHILANDER
Well, sort of.
'Maybe it's something we should stop completely'.
Yeah, probably.

And don't forget Root. There is also Philander having around to assist de Kock.
I was going to suggest that we wait for Sheridan to play test cricket for Australia
....... but then I thought there might be a slight chance that this will not happen.

Bigtime cheats. Of course it should mar the result.

I'm waiting for the "i was only picking out the grass seeds" defence.
Re: Sri Lanka v South Africa, 1st Test, Galle, 16-20 July, 2014
CSA and the saffie team do not come out of this looking good...Steyn's comment that basically said 'look at the scoreboard - we won" was disappointing...coming on top of Faf being found guilty for tampering it would seem there is a cultural problem in the team...
we all have learned to not be surprised when teams with a history - the Stannies, Bannies and Poms - are caught, but it remains a surprise when the otherwise admirablle saffies go down that path....maybe they have figured they may as well ass everyone else is...
the fines/penalties in place are manifestly inadequate....suspend the player for 2 matches and the captain for three and deduct 200 runs from the score in the current match....that would stop it

From the story:
In the interim period, it has been established that the Ten Sports producers were under pressure by the South African team not to have the footage shown in their broadcast. CSA have declined to comment on the incident.

Of course, the other part of the story is, that the umpires inspect the ball at the end of each over and noticed nothing wrong.

Not necessarily at end of every over
regularly ...including wickets and breaks in play

Isn't the ball returned to the umpires at the end of each over?

only in a jamodi with two balls
an ump can request it at any time but they dont have to see the ball at the end of an over

Good win for the Saffies, but why the hell has Amla moved away from number three??? Ridiculous decision considering he averages something like 60 there and can counter-attack.
Faf is a solid player but tends to be a bit of a stodgier. He's better suited to five or six.

Probably because of the wicketkeeping mess.

Amla at three, AB at four, Faf at five, Duminy at six, de Kock at seven with the gloves. They might have to get by with a four man attack for a while. I just don't think AB having the gloves is beneficial to South Africa in the long run. It might shorten his career.

That is why AB isn't at 4. But now that they were forced to keep QDK it might as well continue. JP will remain at 7 though.
