Re: Ebola
hmnn...saw a report on this last night.......just dire...last week a woman doc who is a senior official in Uganda made the news as she has put herself into isolation after her assistant conrtracted the disease and died and she has early symptoms....
incredible heroics from a lot of people ..
but as you say....it is a long way away and I daresay western tv is already saturated with reality "survivor" shows

Re: Ebola
The patient in Dallas has died, notwithstanding ICU, ventilation, dialysis, and every bit of support Western Medicine could offer him (on his second presentation). Puts into perspective the tents, wire mesh enclosures etc that are used in Africa, with water bottles thrown in to the slightly more fortunate.

Nice part of the world. Shame about the people running the place. I think most of the people in charge are Catholic, so they're probably on MM's xmas card list.

If you can put a rocket into space - you don't need aid.

Seriously, ****** all the aid we give to India. Let it go where it needs to be spent. The horn of Africa is where we need to be putting boots on the ground and right now.

You can't help but feel western governments are being decidedly complacent about the ebola outbreak.

Re: Ebola
Yep - we had all manner of weird adverts on TV in the 80s basically telling us to stick a durex on: but this time round, apart from the reporting on the News Channels - nothing from the government. So it's all ok - nothing to worry about (like ******!)

Esp if you consider otherwise relatively safe places like Ghana are popular European travel destinations and a lot of them aren't going to shoot pictures of wildlife or surf.

Re: Ebola
FFS, how could they possibly manage to allow it to spread in Texas?? It's not even airborne FFS. By definition if all the proper precautions are taken it SHOULD NOT SPREAD.
Shambles.

This is the same hospital that initially turned away Thomas Eric Duncan (the first ebola victim diagnosed on US soil) when he arrived there with a high fever, and despite them knowing he'd just come from Liberia.

it is especially mad in Queensland...Health Minister Springborg (the saffie) believes health service providers are privileged to perform their roles and should shut their gobs at all times
