Watched much of the Indian innings. Was pretty tedious stuff as Coaly looked for form. MSD gave the innings much needed impetus late. Seems the 260+ score was way too many for the Ganjas.

If India were to win both remaining ODI fixtures against West Indies, they will have accumulated 113.98 rankings points, just 0.02 points behind the Australians, on an even 114.

Defeat to West Indies in both matches would see them drop to 110.84 rankings points, which would place them in fourth position behind Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka (111.46).

Australia were the world’s No.1-ranked ODI side as recently as late August, before a shock defeat to Zimbabwe in the tri-series in the African nation saw them slip to fourth position.

Between September 2009 and August 2012, they reigned supreme at the top of the tree, but haven’t had it all their own way since, with South Africa and Sri Lanka, as well as the Indians, all vying for the sought-after position.

Amazingly, the Proteas, who beat Australia in the final of that recent tri-series, are less than one rankings point behind both sides, on 113.21.

Windies calling off the tour after today's 4th ODI due to their pay dispute

It would have been some statement had they put on a real show of their talents to show the world what they are missing out on.

Instead they produced one of the shoddiest fielding displays I've ever seen. And I've seen India play a lot.

More on drama of the day --- WICB release: "The West Indies Cricket Board advises, that, contrary to media reports, it has taken no decision to discontinue the ongoing tour to India. The WICB will make a further statement following the conclusion of the Fourth One Day International which is in progress."



But then a bit later -

Don: "@Rupesh - According to Sanjay Patel the WI team manager Richie Richardson emailed them about WI pulling out so why would BCCI wait for a press release when they were emailed by one of the WI officials thats the tours been called off. It feels like maybe some of the WI officials were not aware of the decision to pull out of the India tour till the news started coming out in the media, which in my opinion would be even more embarrassing for WI."

Seems the decision is unconfirmed, but if they go through with it surely a significant suspension from international cricket is in order for them? They will have failed to fulfil international cricket fixtures and that can't be allowed to happen, if the team originally selected refuses to take part then they need to send a scab team out there to complete the schedule, as they did with that Bangladesh series a few years ago.
