Yes, Richie Benaud is set to make a return to the commentary box for the New Year Test.

Channel Nine is planning for master commentator Richie Benaud to call the Sydney Test against India in January.
The 84-year-old former Australian captain and broadcasting icon will make his first public appearance in more than a year on Monday when he helps launch Nine's summer of cricket at a function at the SCG, joined by the rest of the network's stable of ex-internationals. There has been doubt about whether Benaud would be able to return to the airwaves since the car accident in October last year that led to him being rushed to hospital with a broken sternum and shoulder and chest injuries.
However, a Nine spokesperson said on Friday the network was planning for Sydney-based Benaud to be on hand at the SCG to commentate during the fourth Test between Australia and India, starting on January 3.

I hope he's up to it. Will be sad if he's a mumbling, bumbling shadow of his former self. Still, even a half-dead Richie would be better than James Brayshaw and co.

I love Richie, but he has been a mumbling, bumbling shadow of his former great self for about 15 years.

He can barely get a word in when Slater, Healy, and Warne are having a lads night in front of the cricket whilst Australia is listening to them.
