Re: Celebrity Death List MMXVII/The Death Thread 2017
RIP Gene Cernan
"The last person to leave footprints on the moon has died. NASA reported that Gene Cernan died Monday at the age of 82, surrounded by his family.
Gene Cernan flew in space three times, including twice to the moon. Cernan was big, brash and gregarious. And if he hadn't been lucky, he could have missed his chance to walk on the moon.
Cernan challenged himself his whole life. When he entered the military, he chose to be a naval aviator. Landing on an aircraft carrier is perhaps the hardest thing to do in aviation. Cernan did it because it wasn't easy. He said he was constantly pushing himself to do better and be better."

RIP to one with the Right Stuff.

Re: Celebrity Death List MMXVII/The Death Thread 2017
Freaking typical if I miss this by a few weeks:
Elder Bush suffered 'shortness of breath'
Reuters10:44PM January 18, 2017
Former US president George HW Bush has been hospitalised in Houston since the weekend after he experienced a shortness of breath, a family spokesman says.
Bush, 92, the oldest living former American president, has been at the Houston Methodist Hospital since Saturday and "has responded very well to treatments", spokesman Jim McGrath said in an email to Reuters.
"Doctors and everyone are very pleased, and we hope to have him out soon," he said.
Bush is the father of former President George W Bush and former Florida governor Jeb Bush, who sought the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
The elder Bush, a Republican like his sons, served as vice president during Ronald Reagan's two White House terms before being elected president in 1988.
He served four years in the White House.
Bush has used a wheelchair in his later years and was hospitalised twice in 2014 - once for seven weeks with pneumonia and again for breathing difficulties.
In July 2015, he broke a bone in his neck in a fall at the family home in Maine.
Bush's public appearances have been rare since he entered his 90s.

At least if George 1 checks out in the next 60 or so hours he'll avoid the Trump presidency.
Have many other ex-POTI lived to such an age? (From mem Ronnie was 90)

Ford and Reagan both got to 93. Carter is only a few days behind Bush.
