The guy can bat a bit (bats at number 3 in Shield winning team), can bowl a bit and can field.

Most importantly like the Fork he is very competitive and does not have a stick of celery for a spine.

True....got injured at start of season which meant slow start.

I'd back him ahead of Marsh in any circumstances, that said my compost bin is ahead of Marsh in some categories.

I suggest you give him a go....a couple of matches seems the norm for players not from NSW or WA.

Honestly, I reckon Starc is just as good a batsman as Mitchell Marsh. Marsh has this rigid, front foot, hard-handed technique that you can tell was honed against bowling machines set to bowl half volleys on the hard wickets of Western Australia.

About five years ago, Mickey Arthur called Marsh "the next Jacques Kalis" so I guess those words have lingered around Australian cricket for a while.....
