Re: Australia v England, 5xODIs, 14-28 January, 2018
Jaysus, this game is over after 5 overs of the chase. England can cruise home from here without taking any risks.
WTF was this form from Roy in the BBL?

Just over a year ago AJ Tye was scoring a second grade game I umpired
Hope he does well , he's a good bloke

Well his initial over was certainly tidier than that bowled by Stoinis.

If they get this, it will be the biggest second innings ODI total at the MCG ever.
It would appear that Roy lifts for the lions.

For those of you surprised by Jason Roy's sudden turnaround, I think I've found the reason:
Henry wrote:For England, Jason Roy seems to be in one of his form slumps where he can hardly hit the ball or even know which end of the bat to hold. They may as well mark him ‘unselectable’ and send him home now.

Finally Trev does some good.

What's the reason for Lyon's non-selection? Just not seen as a limited overs player?

This is now the highest 3rd innings partnership by England in ODIs.

This could well be the pinnacle of Trev's career.

Re: Australia v England, 5xODIs, 14-28 January, 2018
If we just played this side in the Tests I’m not sure it would have done any worse.
Seriously though I still believe the general principle that good cricketers should be able to adapt to any format. There might be odd exceptions in the modern day (defensive orthodox opening batsmen probably won’t cut it in T20 and containing non-turning spinners are no use in Tests) but I think 7 or 8 of your best players should be consistent across the formats. Being pigeonholed has more of a mental impact on players than anything.

Would be interested in MBs views as to whether Roy was genuinely playing a shot in that overturned lbw decision.

The problem is the DRS doesnt take the onfield umpire's opinion into account about why a decision was made
If the umpire on field decided he wasnt playing at the ball then the decision should have stood
I think the bat was close enough to call it playing at the ball

I think the lack of T20 bowling has disadvantaged these two. As they were getting bashed by Roy, they seemed to simply try to bowl angrier and faster, rather than attempt to finesse a wicket.
In 20-over domestic stuff, the well-disguised slower ball has been a massive weapon. Koo and 2nd need to go to the video tape of Bash games. Dwayne Bravo bowls way more slower balls than fast balls, and has many varieties of the slow one.

Just checked the score card on this. I admit to forgetting it was on. Good for England to finally have a win on what has been a dreary tour.
I see Roy was motm in what was the culmination of another dominant Trevving.
