Re: Current International One Day Cricket
As we approach the completion of the long drawn out qualifying league, seven teams have now sealed their place at next year’s 50-over World Cup. Namely India (hosts), New Zealand, England, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
West Indies currently sit in the final automatic qualifying place, but have completed their matches and are likely to be overtaken by one of Sri Lanka, Ireland or South Africa for that spot. Whichever of those miss out (along with Zimbabwe, Netherlands and maybe one or two from the second tier league) will go into a last chance qualifying tournament for the remaining three places.

Seems to be a lot of mankadding going on.
Just bowlers getting fed up with being hit or are too
many batters sneaking off early?

The Sheep made a fair fist of chasing down 350 v Bannies last night. They needed 12 runs off the last 5 balls when the last wicket fell.

We’re playing SA today, that caught me by surprise. Has the YPL finished then?

Everyone talking up the Yarp bowlers but there’s no excuse for losing when you need 150 off 30 with 9 wickets in hand. It’s losing from 3-0 up, in football terms… just unacceptable game management. They could have just nudged it around and coasted, but instead they kept going for big shots and self-destructed.

Plus, this is a chance to push SA into the final qualifying tournament for the World Cup, and the possibility of the ultimate Yarpitulation of failing to even qualify. We can’t let that opportunity slip!

Yarps coasting to a 340+ target. This England bowling needs a rethink… fancy a white ball comeback, Jimmy?

SA has to cleansweep the series otherwise will probably have to go through qualification for the World Cup.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
I do wonder how they’ve ended up in this position, aside from forfeiting a series in favour of the YPL… if they can chase down nearly 350, and with their bowling resources, they should be good enough for their traditional semi-final capitulation.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
i think they said thats 5 consecutive defeats for england. Maybe rethink their approach
to these games? Apart from Stone and rashid the bowlers looked rubbish, and even rashid got
carted. I spose its true that most of the bowlers are coming back from long injury layoffs
and have only played in t20 thrashes, but that was the management decision. Seeing how oz
dispatched this same SA team last month, its a good recovery for them.
