I humbly agree with this sentiment. The way she destroys songs with her up and down and all around screeching vocal variations annoys the shit out of me. Just sing the song, bitch!!!!
‘There’s a horrible noise coming from the front end of my car’
‘Have you tried removing the Mariah Carey cassette from the player?”
Hence Mariah for Alex, Rowdy (RIP), should have been ‘whispers’ for Matthew Wade

Re: Australia v England, 2nd Test (D/N), Adelaide, 16-20 December, 2021
England’s brutal Ashes campaign so far has only been made worse by harsh penalties for a slow over-rate in the first Test, which has seen the side docked eight ICC World Test Championship points - three more than previously stated.
Last week, England was docked five WTC points - one for each over they were found to have fallen short by, however upon further investigation the side was found to be eight overs short, meaning the penalty has increased to eight.
It leaves England languishing in second-last on the ICC WTC table, while players were also fined 100 per cent of their first Test fee for the breach.
“England were eight overs short (not five overs short as previously announced) but were only fined 100 per cent of their match fee due to the limit,” the ICC said.
“However, the points deduction for penalty overs is not capped and must reflect the actual number of penalty overs a team is short of the minimum requirement as per Clause 16.1.2 of the ICC Playing Conditions, hence they have been penalised one point for each over they were short.”

ICC are run by donkeys. how hard is it to get this right the first time?!

Shrapnel is Australia's Mr Invincible. Since he was subbed in for the brain-rattled Smudge at Lords in Aug 2019 (he made a 2nd innings 59), the following have been his 1st innings scores...

185
162
143
63
215

That's 1,428 runs at 102.00 with a lowest score of 47. Overall, in the same period, he has only been dismissed once for a sub-double-figure score. Other than his 47 above, the only lower scores that he has made are 6, 11, 14, 19, 25 and 28.
Now THAT'S reliable.

Neph & AC have looked very comfortable with only a handful of play & misses.
Conversely the Aus attack has looked pretty tame.

Without Root and favourable atmospheric conditions for our bowlers, I’m pretty sure we’d be the weakest of the nine major Test nations right now.

Root now 182 short of MoYo’s calendar year record, with a possible three innings remaining. If he matches today’s 62 in each one, he’s there.
Surprised his average for the year is as “modest” as 64. Malan and number eight Woakes are the only others averaging over 30 this year!
(Edit: Woakes fell below that mark again with that wicket…)

England batsmen not called Root in 2021: 240 innings, one century.

Yeah, pretty much how it's panned out. Lyon just removed Woakes for the 7th pole.
Excellent middle session by Aus (4-57) after England's two mainstay bats took session 1 (0-127 in an extended session).

Broad has 1 century in 150, career-wise. Which means England’s non-Rooted batting in 2021 is 60% worse than Sturatbeamer wrote:England batsmen not called Root in 2021: 240 innings, one century.

Hey Mitch, the young bloke's allowed some leeway to bowl like a halfwit while he grows up - you've been at the caper 10 years!

Australia batting again… really?
I think I’d like to see the follow-on become mandatory, piling on the runs batting third in such situations does little for the game. VVS Laxman has a lot to answer for…

Decent effort by the under-strength Aus bowling line.
Koo wavered between unplayable and rubbish but did enough to get 4. Elmer was excellent, getting heaps of spin and bounce, for 3 wickets. Snot continues to impress with the ball for 2 wickets including Joe Root again (now if he can just get some runs at no. 6). Ebba and JRich tried hard but you can see the difference in class between them and Haze/2nd.

Commentators screaming for the follow-on has exactly the same credibility as commentators screaming for the early declaration - ie diddly-squat

They’d have rolled our top order over in an hour under the lights. Batting again has no merits other than boosting drinks takings for tomorrow.Fred Nerk wrote:Commentators screaming for the follow-on has exactly the same credibility as commentators screaming for the early declaration - ie diddly-squat
Apart from the fact we’d have bugger all chance of setting you even 100, we haven’t got a spinner for bowling last anyway.

Name another sport where the team leading at half time has responsibility to keep the game interesting? The team with the 200+ run first innings lead earnt it, and with it the right to steer the conduct of the game in the way that best suits it.

Good effort to hit it to extra cover from his stance at backward square leg.
