Was pleased Murphy took the late wicket but Rohit played very well.

Social media and multiple journos give a collective "WFT?" to the Aus management over the omission of Head.

With good justification imo.
Apart from a few exception , Smudge,Labuschange,Carey a rather dire effort with the bat by Aus.
Suspicions over what Jadeja was doing to the ball, but undoubtedly there will be silence from the ICC.

I have a plan to fix the GCS issue.
Candyass announces separation and divorce and application for sole custody of the grotesque offspring.
GCS retires today.
Three new reality TV shows starring Oz’s favourite couple announced:
* Separation Anxiety…
* Gimme moy kedsÂ
* Married at 2nd Sight
Shows will go for years.

The Steaming Great Murphy triples his wicket tally (CF a certain recently deceased legendary spin bowler whose third Test wicket came in the second innings of his third game)
How many more before we are guaranteed his first 'Murphy's Law' headline?

The last Oz bowler with the same last name as a former Carlton captain didn't turn out too shabby (eventually) either....

Been at the dentist this arvo so missed 1st session.
Nice to see Murphy getting wickets although he got lucky with Poojabber and E-coli.

Ugh. Day summed up by the usually bucket-handed slipper Smudge spilling two.
We desperately needed a 5th bowler (did someone say "Head"?).
With India 7 down and around 60 in front we were still a sniff of staying in it, but India just bats way too long in the order for us, particularly compared to our 3 ferrets at 9, 10, jack.
Innings loss now pretty much assured.

Also from the commentary it seems we had a few big appeals that were turned down and on review found that "Umpire's call" stuffed things.
Anyway, Bannies too good in this one. Regroup and lose the next 3. Sigh.

We looked a bit ragged there in the end, Cummings looked like he was struggling.
Smith drops a lot of catches for a reputedly good fieldsman.

Smith does not have to field in the slips. Rench and Sneaky P are more reliable.
I was a bit disappointed in Smiths knock, inc the lack of intent for long periods. Does little to dispel concern in the sheds about a minefield.
On the Head issue I assume he had been batting like s*** in the nets.
Of the bowlers Lyon was loose early but improved as the day wore on. Ditto Cummins. Thought Boland bowled well and Murphy was terrific.

the story that we're still considering the option of playing Head as an opener at some point in the rest of the series proves that our team selection was and still is all over the shop, and we've been outfoxed from day 1.

223 run lead to India on the 1st innings. looks like an innings defeat coming up, might even be finished today

Well that was a pile of shit.
MrK posted on another medium that Aus got to 5-162 then we loss 5-13. India were 5-168 and made 400. Three Indian bowling allrounders (Ashtray, Jadeja and Patel made over 150 between them) in the bottom order farked us.
It'd be grouse if we showed some heart and avoided an innings loss.
Well done to Todd Murphy for his 7-fer on debut.

Tall order after the mismatched first innings. Amused me that Cummins again brought himself on when the last bunny came to the crease. Well done to Murphy though he'd hope to take an 8 fer at some point conceding fewer runs.
Big test for Warner. In some ways his 200 on a flat pitch against an attack toiling in searing heat was not what the doctor ordered.

Who is talking up Head as an opener?
Aye Skully, the Bannie lower order were terrific. Doubt we survive two sessions.
Have been watching on the teeve but with the sound off, while watching the Shield on iPad. More competitive cricket and far better commentators.

Obviously I hope we make the Bannies bat again but I am barracking for yet another Warner failure. This will help ensure he never plays Test cricket again.
