Geebers. He is ok, but not yet a patch on Dutchy2.
No surprise re Agar. I think Head must have struggled against Goat and Murphy in the nets.

Kuhnemann, what a glorious name, send him on that alone. I need a bit of Germany in my cricket.

So Handscomb or Renshaw to be sacrificed for a lengthening of the tail.

Meh, I'd play Head to lengthen the spinning ranks.
You can take you pick whether Warner or Wrench plays.

They should sack Rahul and Pujara and get in Gill and Iyer.
They probably won’t.

Why would India sack Rahul and Pujara when the side is winning?

It’s up there with Lehmann, Hauritz, Zesers, Kasprowicz and Zoehrer!
Khawaja even.
The one that always got me was Duncan Sharpe for Pakistan.

Angelo Mathews doesn’t sound particularly Sinhalese or Tamil either. And the plethora of (de) Silvas, Fernandos etc. over there I think were Spanish/Portuguese imports a few centuries ago.
India had the Binnys as well. Bin India!

Portuguese were everywhere.
Various Da Silvas, Fernandos, Henriques, and Elquemedo Willetts coming out of the proverbials in Sri Lanka and the West Indies in particular.
Getting back to furry’s comments on Kuhnemann and the Germans (‘forgive and forget, eh, major’) there aren’t too many Germanic names in the current German cricket team. Same applies to Norway. Furry, any idea why players from these European teams are much more likely to be speaking Urdu than Hindi, English, German, or Norwegian?

I guess because there’s very little local tradition in the sport in continental Europe (bar Holland to an extent which is strongly South Africa-linked anyway), and so it only really thrives among Asian expat communities and their descendants.lardbucket wrote:Portuguese were everywhere.

... really?
Why more Pakistani or at least Islamic names than Hindi / Hindu, though? Are migration patterns to Norway and Germany so biased numerically towards Pakistani and Arabic > Indian, or are there other reasons?
eg:
Germany v Denmark - players
or this one, Norway's team in particular
