Members in the Long Room have gone off their trolleys.
BazBall - what a joke of a saviour for English cricket
Don’t care about the result as much as I want Broad and racist cooker Slobbo bounced out of the game.

God, I love Ashes Cricket!!!
I'll probably be in bed when the win is achieved (by either side) but we'll be talking about this Test match day for days.

No. Waiting for Beamer to say how terrible it was when Pope ran de Grandhomme out the same way within the last 12 months.
Stay in your crease.

Short English memories
The incident that Lardy refers to, just a summer ago.

Regarding the stumping:- Back in 1975/76 Martin Kent was stumped by Rod Marsh off Ian Brayshaw in a very similar situation. No-one complained about Marsh but Kent was severely criticised for his lack of concentration.

Smith dropped the Ashes there. Cummins and Carey have also given him chances.

I'm not getting into the Spirit of the Game wars - my BP is way too high as it is, my ArthurArthuritis won't be helped either - but just to offer a different thought.
Preface: Can't see England pulling this one off, circus or no circus.
But (the thought): what a colossal lump Stokes is.
Injured knee, foot, Lord knows what else. Head, shoulder. And on he goes like some crazy golem. Scary dimensions.
Forget that old laughable saw: the New Botham, the New Flintoff. Way more supernatural than Beefy ever was. Flintoff with all natural weakness and fat removed.
Even if he IS out next delivery after I write this! Because anything mortal is completely fallible. (Especially if he gets a good ball.)

A second thought is:
Preface: One of my very few sporting heroes is FS Jackson. (He was a Tory - not my thing - but a PROPER Conservative: not a renegade posing as conserving anything worth conserving. And I did say sporting heroes ...)
The thought FWIW: We still need more Jackers.

Talk about poking a bear with a shitty stick. Shame he couldn’t quite see it through this time. Just let Sturat have a bit of fun now and see what happens.
Oh, and sledge, beam and Mankad the crap out of them at Headingley. Good to see the toffs in the Long Room giving the sandpaper boys a bit of a jostling.

Quite possibly, though I can see them wheeling him out to say goodbye properly in the dead rubber at the Oval.lardbucket wrote:Anderson’s last innings?

It’s always full of uneducated lager louts and sanctimonious tools, I doubt the tourists will notice any difference.

If Anderson and Tongue get another 63 to win this, I will be certain of the involvement of dodgy subcontinental bookies…

Would have been a suitably crazy ending if we’d had to finish it with a concussion sub. I think we’re still yet to see a number 12 score a run in Test cricket.lardbucket wrote:Glad he had a helmet on there.

Anderson survives in 2023 what Kasper did not in 2005.
The main difference? - a competent umpire at the bowler’s end this time.
