The charge against Harby
was downgraded by the Australians due to financial pressure.
From the Age:
Cricket Australia feared India would pull out of the tour, and that broadcaster ESPN, which owns the lucrative contract to beam cricket from Australia into the subcontinent, would sue the board for a figure believed to be as high as $60 million. Cricket Australia told the players it could take a decade to recoup those losses.
BCCI and ESPN working together to get Harby off the hook. Nice.

What a disgrace this really, really is. Quite significant really. Call it amdram, but this - especially after the Oval incident - is the start of the downfall of cricket. When individual boards can throw their weight around, in conjunction with TV companies, against other individual boards and the governing body does nothing to stop it then there are massive, massive problems. I have a new least favourite team. What I don't understand is how ESPN can sue Cricket Australia. But then, I'm not really much of a legal person.
Re: The charge against Harby
Well it is becoming more and more clear that Harby is a lying, cheating sook.

It seems that Sri Lanka were also considering pulling out if India did.

right that's it. It's time the reat of the world told the sub-continent to p!ss off and play with themselves, cos the game they are playing is definitely not cricket.

Really? Now there's a surprise. The team that complained about racism through a similar manner do not agree with the policy that they undertook? Well, I never. To the outsider, that could look a bit like an Asian team sticking to another Asian team like glue, regardless of what's right or wrong.
I'm gradually losing interest in this game of 'cricket'.

Yeah, apart from SA are such a grubby team of money-grabbers that they'd f*ck off with them unfortunately. They nearly sided with SubC in '96, they're likely to do so now even more.

I know. That's when you have political appointees masquerading as cricket administrators.
I am getting sick of the whole stinking mess.

I mean, what sort of a sham would it be without SA? Eng are poor, Aus aren't, WI are moreso, NZ are about as bad.
It would be routine thumping after routine thumping. The Asian teams provide a variance of players and conditions, but to be brutally honest I'd prefer yawning monotony to corrupt mendacity and injustice.

You are sick because the old-order established by the white commonwealth isn't having it's way any longer.
Else for anyone to reason that 4 aussie cricketers baiting a hothead and obtaining a desired response that invites ICC penalty would be perfectly within the 'spirit of cricket' is so pukeworthy.

Hey TO. Never knew that Aus media printed the same kind of garbage that Indian media usually does. Also we are talking about a professional cricket board and a world board that swept under the carpet a matter of two distinguished Aus cricketers selling Pitch reports to bookies. This even as some subi teams banned their players for life for such unholy associations.
This is just media BS trying to cover CA's exposed arse vis a vis 'racism'.

Re: The charge against Harby
Ah, this is brilliant. I can never understand some fans, and this isn't just India. They denigrate and deride other teams and bring up "eye for an eye" examples as a way of explanation. It's amazing. Personally, for starters, this 'sold their soul' sh!t is one of the w*nkest dross lines I've heard. They've basically just survived and nothing else. That hit would've been massive.
I'd personally be ashamed if it were my team's board who has behaved in such a manner and working in conjunction with a TV station that's basically ran by my country to do so would make me even more ashamed. And I'd say this all here.
But hey, let's try and 'save face' and have a bit of 'one-upmanship' to keep us looking 'brilliant'.
This is one of the single biggest disgraces to hit cricket and there's some glib, smarmy, smug and purely wrong hand-waving going on.
It is, by any analysis, downright pathetic.

Re: The charge against Harby
I wonder what ESPN were going to sue CA for? Not buckling to BCCI pressure? Oh yeah, that would stand up at court.
It'd be nice if people would not jump to conclusions and start spounting without thinking it through.

The BCCI would've pulled out(in an absolutely huge bout of childishness not seen for a very long time) and ESPN would have sued them for not providing the cricket as contracted. Nice little cohesion there. Could even call it a consortium, BCCIESPN.
So, as per your highlighted line - take your own advice.

I must point out that ESPN would also sue BCCI for a dropped series in Aus and not just CA. Reason?
ESPN-Star has the rights of India matches OVERSEAS for 4 years while Nimbus has the home rights.
Summary - Aus media is just talking crap, looking for scapegoats to vent their ire on. Nothing new about that. Most countries have such media issues.

Aww, scapegoats? That's a nice, new fresh one. Hold on, I'm just getting the violin out.
