Re: npower Village Cup Final: 9th September, Lords
This match was not bad folks. Dare I say it, yes I dare, the fielding was better than WIs and India's this summer (and Pakistan's all the time).
Findon batted first and scored 213 for 2, with a 62 from Walters and an unbeaten century from Kingsbury - 103no, and a handy 36no from O'Sullivan.
During the break, their score was changed to 220 for 2 (don't know why, missed the start of the match through domestic duties at home).
Woodhouse Grange CC were good for the score, on a lovely, mostly sunny day at Lord's, they won the match by 6 wickets, with Demitrou scoring 7 '4s and 2 '6s, out on 58.
The banter was fun between the two sides, lots of laughs at one spectator's shouts that "Sussex and England are not the same"!
The portable floodlights are in place, behind the Mound Stand, for tomorrow's Pro 40 match between Middx and Derbyshire.

Re: npower Village Cup Final: 9th September, Lords
My club got to the final of the Village Knock-Out once, way back in the depths of time. Unfortunately the competition was being sponsered by a beer company that season and they enjoyed the sponsers hospitality a little too much the night before the match. Lost by about 30 runs in the end.

Oh, okay. Well, at least they thoroughly enjoyed their participation

Do they still do this at Lords?
Sounds like it would be worth a visit.

Just in case this is not just another sly dig at the miserable state of England cricket ...

It was not a sly dig; I am trying to work out which games I might be able to attend later this year that would be worthwhile. Sunday September 13 then.
