T20 and the price of rice
have the exorbidant prices paid for T20 players contributed to galloping inflation in India...
<<The Indian Government has banned the export of non-basmati rice in an attempt to control soaring domestic food costs.
The decision is one of a series of measures to curb inflation and was taken during an emergency Cabinet meeting.
The price for exports of aromatic basmati rice has also been raised to $1,300 per tonne to discourage exports.
The move could have an impact on rice prices globally as the country is the third largest exporter of the grain, which is a staple food in many countries.>>

wont do much for poor countries reliant on importing rice from India...

Re: T20 and the price of rice
Nice connection Horrie
There is an increasing food shortage in the World attributed to rising fuel prices and the diversion of food crops to bio fuel. Even countries like Egypt are facing famine like situations with people getting killed in bread queues. India is insulated from this at this stage and the Government wants to stay that way.
