Re: Ban v WI, T20 WC, Johannesburg, 13th September
It will be a pretty good acheivment if Windies defend that total as the conditions created for this match are tailor made for Bangladesh and the exact opposite of what the Windies players would want for a 20-20.

Shall I make a "disinterested" thread for Windies fans, just in case?

Not sure I agree with the pundits. Its good to have spinners overs 8-16 in 20/20 but then when the all-out slog is on at the end you need a quick bowler as changes in pace are essential.
The 17th over went for 20, 18th = 5, 19th = 24 and 20 = 9 runs. That's 58 off 4, if they'd saved a bit for their seamers they could have got through those 4 overs for 35/40ish and had a 50/50 shout of winning this one. But now I think WI should have taken it out of their reach.

To be fair, on wickets doing a bit, T20 is a raffle . . .

The 18th and 20th overs weren't bad. The reason the other overs were bad is because Ashraful was bowling. If he had been a proper spinner, he probably wouldn't have gone for that many.

Yeah, that's probably right.
Not sure what's worse, a captain with not enough belief in his own abilities or one with too much...

Why do none of the bowlers bowl in death mode from the very beginning?

Because its relatively easy to hit a yorker (which more often than not is a low full toss or half-volley) over mid-off or mid-on for 4. Without fielding restrictions and with two men back all the way its a different story though as its very hard to clear them for 6.

It's so obvious though, pitch it up in the blockhole ball after ball.
If they hit those for 4, well done...

More sensible cricketspeak from Gazza there. Letting the side down badly.

Whatever he is he's not much use.
Don't know what I was thinking either none of a suet, jam roly poly or Heinrich Himmler have ever scored an international 50, so a combination of the 3 shouldn't do much better.
