Because its relatively easy to hit a yorker (which more often than not is a low full toss or half-volley) over mid-off or mid-on for 4. Without fielding restrictions and with two men back all the way its a different story though as its very hard to clear them for 6.
It is??:affraid:
I'm from the Mikey Holding school of bowling. You miss, I hit...
What is a yorker though? A full ball landing round about the crease line, push forward its a low full toss. If it's slightly short of the blockhole its a half volley. If your bat is coming down straight you shouldn't miss.
With mid on and mid off in the circle international class batsmen will beat them more often than not - especially if the bowler is bowling it all the time and you set yourself for it.
With the fielders back it is hard to get much leverage on it and clear them all the way for 6, so it is usually just a single. But in the first 6 overs you only need to hit it 40 or 50 yards not 80.

Dwayne Smith could lose this for the Windies from here. I'd prefer to see Gayle.
And as I type, here he is...

Nothing to do with him being in my fantasy team of course...

11 off Fidel's first over, should have only been 6.

RRR only just over 6 now. Easily achievable. The WI need to take quite a few wickets or else they are going home tonight.
RRR coming down as I type.
What an expensive drop that was when Ashraful was put down.

btw Sarwan's captaincy has been pretty poor. Why the hell is Fidel off already. Makes no sense at all.

Overthrows galore from the WI fielding...2 instead of zero.
Looks like Asraful may be easily on for the fastest T20 50

I think the fastest T20 50 is in 23 balls.
Ashraful is 49 off 18...not that it means anything as this is not cricket.

Bad captaincy, its all about wickets, especially against minnows like Bangladesh without the batting depth. Rather than Bravo's midium pace (which went for 18 ) should have gone for either pace of Edwards or Powell or maybe even Ronny could have given himself a bowl.

Top knock from Ashraful though, explosive 50, good hitting.
Re: Ban v WI, T20 WC, Johannesburg, 13th September
OMG now a free hit.
When we go to pieces we really go the whole hog. This is unbeleivable.
