Mike Brearley shouldn't be in this list though. However much his batting was below test standard he most definitely has legendary status.

A bit unfair on Ringo too BTW.

Although he was apparently a nice chap and a reasonable captain Herbert Chapman was pretty superfluous in the 1928/29 English team. Mind you, they lost the one match he didn't play in.

Wasn't he Percy Chapman?

I agree about Ringo.

Instead it could be the Peter Best XI.

I read that Best became a career guidance counsellor.
Would you take career guidance from him?

Yes, Herbert Chapman was my next door neighbour about 30 years ago! I don't think he played for England at all.
