Bhajji 'slaps' Sreesanth, leaves him crying

Mohali: Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh and Kings XI paceman S Sreesanth were late on Friday night involved in a bitter row, following which the fast bowler was seen crying bitterly on the ground at the end of their IPL match here.

Harbhajan allegedly slapped Sreesanth after the paceman said something to Harbhajan which offended the off-spinner.

The off-spinner however had a long chat with Sreesanth in the dressing room of the Punjab team and is even believed to have apologised for his behaviour.

Harbhajan though did not speak on the issue when he came to address the post match conference.

"Can we have questions on just cricket," Harbhajan saidwhen asked about what happened between him and Sreesanth.

The winning captain Yuvraj Singh was upset by the unsavoury incident and termed it "ugly".

"This is really an ugly incident. You do not want to see such things off the field specially after such a win. I am pretty upset at what has happened. This is totally unacceptable," he said apparently criticising Harbhajan Singh.

Kings XI Punjab have said they will lodge official complaint on incident.

IANS adds: Kings XI Punjab scored a comprehensive 66 run victory over Mumbai Indians in an Indian Premier League match.

Set to chase 183, Mumbai Indians were bowled out for a paltry 116. This is Kings XI first victory in three matches while Mumbai Indians are still to open their account.

For Kings XI, Kumar Sangakkara blasted 94 off just 56 balls, while Brett Lee (1-9), Piyush Chawla (2-16) and Irfan Pathan (2-16) bowled tight spell.

Many have long suspected Sreesanth is all p1ss, wind and attitude. This will do nothing to dispel that view.

Seriously, if Habhajan did slap Sree (an opposition player) with some degree of malice presumably he will be banned for a very long time.

However, I see that some reports are saying it wasn't a slap but something else (like a overly hard handshake). Once again Harby seems to have been "fortunate" in that there isn't any footage.

Either way, imagine Matt Hayden had done something like this to a Subi - there would be a billion people calling for his head.

Both are downplaying it at the moment, even Sreesanth says it's been sorted out among themselves, and he told the KXIP management not to lodge a complaint. Yuvraj was quite pissed off though, from his post-match interview.

Bhajji will probably get a ban, but if Sreesanth doesn't say anything against him, it won't be long.

Well I guess bhajji indeed is an 'obnoxious little weed', but that doesn't really condone aussie behaviour in Sydney where bhajji could well have been baited by four aussies.

But I didn't even figure in the wildest of dreams that the IPL would become a platform for aussies to reclaim their high moral ground. Sheesh

Well FWIW Lalit Modi has said that the Match-Referee's report on the incident is awaited and if he indicts harbhajan then the latter shall be penalized as per rules and provisions of the ICC.

Bhaji you moron! You would think that after everything that happened in Australia, he would have the sense to keep a low profile and stay away from controversy. It seems that Bhaji just loves being a bad boy. And yes he is an obnoxious weed just like Matty the oh-so-devout Christian said. Bhaji seems to be following in the foot steps of Akthar attitude wise. I don't like it one bit. This kind of thing can be extremely disruptive to the national side, and on that basis alone they should ban his sorry a$$ from the Indian team. If/when he gets his head sorted, only then should he be considered for selection.

Will be interesting when these two are teammates again. I was convinced the first slapping match would be between Warne and Smith.

well apparently the incident happend during the customary handshakes in the ground post-match when after Sree said 'hard luck' or something to that effect, Mr. Harbhajan decided to punch him in the face and then push him away.

So what are we looking at here .. is it a life sentence.
