They have a fantastic system in place from school level upwards that teaches athletes to deal with the pressure of being World Class.

It is therefore extremely annoying that the Jamaican Cricket Board are such a bunch of idiots and have hardly any system in place to nurture talent.

Depends where your from still. Jamaicans will say Powell, Trinis and most others would have said Lara.

Its definitely not Yorke anymore. I'd have to say it would be between Lara and Asafa Powell.

Usain Bolt may have just shot to stardom though. Jamaicans have been yapping on about him being a freak of nature for about 4 years now.

Sounds like a friend of mine who supports Peterborough United who have just been promoted to league 1. They are constantly singing that George Boyd, their left winger, is the white Pele.

As for T&T footballers, I have always rated Jones and Carlos Edwards. Two cracking players.

How about Stern John? I recently found out that he has 67 international goals!!! 67! That puts him 8th in the all time list.

He's only 10 behind Pele so I think he'd probably have the biggest claim to be better than Pele.

He's 1 goal behind Gerd Muller and 4 goals ahead of Ronaldo.

Stern has not always been popular because of his style of just being a goal poacher but he is the one person who always came back to play for Trinidad whenever we had games so I think he has been the most loyal overseas player. But he did get most of those goals by destroying Caribbean opponents. But to be fair he did score a couple of important goals to help us make the world cup.

I remember when we sold Stern John because he might score another goal for us. Seriously. We'd have had to pay Columbus Crew some dosh in one of those "if he scores x amount" deals, and we couldn't afford it. Happy days.

The Caribbean is made up of several countries, each with their own heroes and idols. It's like saying,"Who is the biggest sporting hero in Europe at the moment?" but on a smaller scale.
