Re: The case for Bradman as the greatest ever sportsman
'In the past week, however, the debate has moved on, from the cricket fields to that imaginary event where one can, once and for all, decide who was the greatest sportsman of all time.'
'The question was put to readers of The Weekend Australian in a poll whose results are not so surprising. Bradman came out a clear leader from a field of seven with 29 per cent of the vote, second was Muhammad Ali (23), then Tiger Woods (15) Pele (13), Rod Laver (10), Emil Zatopek (6) and Michael Jordan (4).'
What, no Phil Taylor? Silly Aussies.

Good to see zscore getting a mention even though he contributes to Fairfax rather than News.

Re: The case for Bradman as the greatest ever sportsman
Bradman also played golf at a high level, and contemporary reports at the time suggest he could have turned pro quite easily and done well, and was a very good squash player IIRC after his retirement from cricket, winning state titles with the same ease ease showed with the cricket bat.
Personally, though, I'd go for Reginald 'Snowy' Baker.
