Chris Woakes of Warwickshire
Excuse me whilst I do 'a mudge'
First saw him in the U19's last year when he looked a mid 70's trundler - then saw him in a televised T20 game this year and he is up to 82-3mph
Nice run up and action - will get faster too.
Good prospect - keep an eye out for the lad...

He's no Stuart Meaker.
Holcs confirmed the other day that he is indeed very fast, despite being a trundler in under 19's.

Both were trundlers when I saw them.
Impressed me as much as one of those microwave Doner Kebabs.

Re: Chris Woakes of Warwickshire
Aye. Heard from some of the Surrey boys that he WAS clocked at 96 in the indoor school at Loughborough....... Quickest clocked of anyone ever to have trained down there.
They have also said that he is actually rapid as well. And they are more sceptical than me.
Apparently he is built like Bing, 5'10" but with a good action and has just got alot stronger!!
We shall wait and see, although Dernback who I always thought was a trundler is bing clocked in the high 80's so shoite knows how quick Meaker is these days. He plays in our league, but not heard any reports bar the one about how quick he really has been bowling!

I still don't buy all this bollocks really. How can you put on 20mph in a year?

Perhaps. But if someone who sees them day in day out says he's quicker than a bloke clocked in the high 80's whats one to believe?

I like to believe my eyes. If he can do it in the nets, maybe not hitting the cutting strip, but not out in the middle, on TV then he's no better than a bowling Ian Bell.

You know what cricketers are like though.
SiJo used to big up how fast he was bowling all the time...

Oh I totally agree. Until I see him I won't totally believe it. But just passing on some facts and hearsay is all.

VRV Singh was going to be a 95+ bowler when no-one had hear of him too, wasn't he?
It's probably a conspiracy.

Seems to have a nice simple action, does Meaker. Kinda reminds me a bit of Lance Klusener in the mid to late 90's when he was actually pretty rapid.

Better than Trev's 5 years later, when he had him bracketed with Kerrigan.

Re: Chris Woakes of Warwickshire
Well, he debuted in the same match as Kerrigan, and for a while it looked like they would be forever bracketed together as a cautionary tale about playing your backups in a dead rubber, even if he was nowhere near as bad as Kerrigan in that match.
