Sri Lanka v India, 1st Test, Colombo, 23-27 July
It's not T20, but it'll have to do...

Re: Sri Lanka v India, 1st Test, Colombo, 23-27 July
If they held the first two days in Columbo and the second two in Delhi, would it be "part-Columbo"?

We've not won a series in SL for 15 years and without a doubt it'd be last chance for the likes of Ganguly, Dravid and VVS to taste a series victory in SL.

Oh dear....
The team picks itself. Hopefully Kumble will see that Laxman needs to come at 3.

I'd like to see Sri Lanka select Paranavitana in their team. Dunno if he is up to test standard with the bat but he's got a great name.

Absolutely!!! Sounds like a cross between a headache tablet and a Borocca. Or a Borocca and a violent fish!!WideWally wrote:I'd like to see Sri Lanka select Paranavitana in their team. Dunno if he is up to test standard with the bat but he's got a great name.

Violent fish for sure
Anyway, have been looking forward to this series for ages. A big series for Ganguly, Dravid and SRT, I wonder how much longer those three can realistically carry on for.

been looking forward to this series for a while. 6 years since we toured sl, in what was certainly the most entertaining series between the two countries
also 11 years since srt has toured lanka. will be interesting to see the srt-murali/mendis battle

VVS
Ganguly
Karthik
Bhajji
Kumble
Zaheer
Ishant

Dravid should open and UMB(Ultimate Murali basher) should bat in the middle order.

Why not?
Have Laxman bat at # 3 and UMB at 6?

Because team think tank thinks that Dravid is more suited to no.3 plus Dravid himself has some sort of mental block of not opening the innings.

With Fernando and Malinga most likely out of the test match SL will have an attack of
Vaas
Klusakera
Murali
Mendis
WK(Sanga or Jayawerdena) has a chance to stand up to the stumps for the entire match.

I'd go with that. Though I don't think Dravid will be moved down to 6.
I'm seriously worried about his form.

Will Dravid still make it to Indian team for Australia series even if he fails in this series (averages somewhere around 25-30)?
