He was 'pinging it down with impunity' in Aus too, though. You all said so at the time, anyway.

I just think that despite his performance in this match, he's not quite the force he once was and an Aus batting line-up in formidable form took advantage of that.

the most dissapointing test i have seen since durban 96. a massive gap between the teams in all departments. hopefully we bounce back after this

i would make two changes. sadly one of them is the captain so that wont happen. patel in for karthik

well karthik doesnt seem like much of a keeper either. hope patel actually has a brain when he bats

i cant see any other changes. sharma is the only reserve batsman, but in place of who? i think dravid deserves another chance

ojha in for kumble. on these slow, low lankan pitches you need a spinner who can actually spin the ball. top-spinners like kumble are slow-medium fodder. he becomes a threat when bounce is a factor, either good, quick bounce or variable bounce

Long term, I think Mishra and Chawla are the 2 most likely to be competing for Kumble's spot. Mishra is more ready than Chawla, imo.

They were only 1 off doing this in the last test, and that was with just Murali and Mendis playing.

probably. chawla bowls too slowly to be much of a threat in international cricket imo. he needs to get it quicker through the air. he has a turning leg-break and a decent googly, so he can definitely build on it

violetsd is worthy of his spot..harbi's refusal to apply pressure 'cept fopr 2 or 3 overs cost India - he should go....Karti II was ok...the only Indian bats to emerge with any credit from this shellacking were VVS and Gambhir - inidan critics of the latter have been notably silent
